It really is rather impossible.....

.....for me to be on a diet! I have to much of a social life! haha

About a month ago I started a diet (again!) or maybe I should say I was trying to change my eating habits to something more healthy. After all I am not getting any younger! I have lost and gained weight like a yoyo during this past month! I do well for a few days and then we go out to eat, or have people over and all the weight that I lost over 3-4 days, I put on again in one evening!! It is sooo unfair!

So Saturday morning I woke up to a text message from Kristian´s sister Hanne. She wanted to know if we had any plans for the day. We had made a few plans. Kristian was going to the go-kart track and then he had invited me out on a date Saturday evening.  I was planning on cleaning and just relaxing until he came home and we would go out.

Well Hanne and Flemming were heading up into our area to go to an Art Exhibition and they wanted to know if we would like to join them. Kristina wouldn´t be back in time, but since I was only cleaning, an Art Exhibition sounded like a lot more fun! I said I would love to go.

We then invited them to go on a double date with us after the exhibibion - and they thought that was a great idea!

The Art Exhibition was good, although it wasn´t really my style, but I was getting inspired to start painting again!

After the Exhibition we headed home to us for coffee and cake and then waited on Kristian to arrive home. He arrived shortly after us, and our date night could begin. The plan was dinner and a movie, but we took sooo long over dinner that we just dropped the movie. We had lots to talk about and the evening just flew by. The food was sooo good (we tried a new place) and the company wasn´t bad either!

Today my friend and neighbour turned 60! So we held a surprise breakfast for her. She had a doctors appointment at nine o´clock. I had arranged with some of our other friends (and neighbours) that we would decorate the house and make breakfast for her coming home. We had sooo much fun! We got the place decorated, the breakfast going and then we saw her car. We all hid in the living room and when she came in and saw the place decorated she just thought that I had been over decorating but had left again. She was chuckling away to herself when we all jumped out from our hiding place and sang Happy Birthday. We scared the life out of her!! haha

We had such a lovely time with her and hopefully helped to make her birthday a bit more fun. This evening we are having a girlie evening out. We are heading to one of the local cafes for dinner. One final last celebration!

So you see what I mean about it being impossible to diet, but on the other hand, there is nothing better than hanging out with a group of friends, over some delicious food and sharing life together.

Let it begin....

yes, let the Easter holidays begin. We all stopped today for Easter. Normally Kristian would have to work Monday through Wednesday of next week, but he had some holiday days he needed to use, so he is off too. Soooo great to all be off at the same time.

This has been yet another busy week. (Which I really do love!)

Monday I was totally exhausted after the weekend with the 60th party, so I literally came home from work and did nothing!

Sara called to say that on Wednesday Christian would be in Copenhagen on a course and since she was also off work that day she was going to travel over with him to see us. They decided to come on the Tuesday evening and stay over so we could have a bit more time together. It was sooo lovely to have them here. We had a lovely evening!! I took a fit of baking about an hour before they came, which is totally out of character for me. I made a few things and actually enjoyed it! We stuffed our faces and chatted the night away. I really wish they lived closer.

On Wednesday Christian went off to his course and the rest of us headed to work and college. Sara went into her beloved Copenhagen and did some shopping. I left work a few hours early and Andrew and I met up with her and Christian in a cafe for some coffee, tea and cake. (Kristian had an important meeting on and couldn´t leave early that day and Leah had an exam so she stayed at home to study.)

It was sooo good to hang out with them. After a few hours at the cafe we said goodbye and Andrew and I headed back home and they started their long journey home.

Next Wednesday they will come again and stay over Easter. We are counting the days!

Thursday was a great day! I got to catch up with some of my girl friends. I am soooo blessed to have the best girl friends in the world! I have 6 really close girl friends here in Denmark and I love hanging out with each one of them.

Thursday I left work and headed home to my friend Rhona´s house. We had our strawberry cake date as we call it, and as usual there was the strawberry cake that we love. It was soooo good to hang out with her again. With Rhona I can share my heart. We talk about anything and everything. We go from talking about silly unimportant things to deep stuff. I love sharing life with her and feel sooo blessed to have her in my life. I wish we could hang out more... anyway she is the type of friend that even if we haven´t talked for weeks, as soon as we meet we just carry on from where we left off.
Before I knew it nearly 2 ½ hours had passed (far too quickly) and I needed to get going. I was going to pick up my other friend Audry for our Ikea date.

Audry is my Ikea friend! We go there every other month and have been doing it since we had small kids. So last night we were back at Ikea again. We had such a fun evening shopping. When Ikea closed at 9pm we headed over to McDonalds for our traditional feed and chat! We love to talk and we certainly did our share of that last night! We talked sooo long that I first got home ten past midnight! How blessed I am to have these friends to share my hours with!

60th Birthday Party for Laura

It wasn´t my 60th Birthday party but our good friend and neighbour (who happens also to be called Laura) was holding her 60th birthday. To look at her you would not believe she was turning 60!! She looks much younger and she has a young spirit! I always think of her in her late 40s!

So most of my time this week has been used getting things ready for the party. There were gifts to buy, a song to organise, and dances to get ready!

In between the preparations we found time to invite some of our "old" neighbours over for coffee and some cake. We had such a lovely evening with them here. It has been a while since we were last together, so it was great to catch up with their life.

Friday evening and the serious preparations for the party started. Laura had rented a place just 5 minutes from where we live.  It was an old house set on a hill. Really cosy and full of character. A bit like a home, which was what she was looking for, but room for about 20 -30 people.

We went to help her decorate the table on Friday evening. It all looked sooo good.

Saturday we helped again with a bit of the food preparation. Kristian was in charge of grilling the beef!!! A few of us girl friends arrived an hour or so before the guests to help get the last bits of food ready. It was all go! Laura made everything herself! She is amazing!

Shortly before the guests arrived we were a little in a panic! The oven door didn´t close properly!! Some of the snacks we were making should only have taken 15 minutes to cook, yet after 40 minutes they still were not ready!! We girls were constantly around that oven, taking turns to hold the door closed!

The food got cooked and it was delicious!!

The guests all seemed to enjoy themselves and the food.

There was one very special guest that came banging on the window. She came in and sang a special song for Laura.

The desserts were also delicious!

After we were fed and watered it was time for some dancing. We did a little Scottish dancing and some line dancing! There was a lot of laughing. All great fun!

It was a great evening, one I hope will always bring a smile to Laura´s face when she thinks about it.

Today we were back at the place clearing up and cleaning it!! It sure is hard work holding a party! I was so exhausted that I fell asleep this evening on the sofa. Now when I´m meant to be sleeping, I can´t! It´s going to be a hard day tomorrow at work.

Going too fast!!

Where does the time go?

It´s been a busy week for us, and a busy weekend.

The week started with a Bible study on Monday evening, here at home with some friends. We had a good evening.

On Tuesday evening Kristian and I decided to try and organise what we would like to do for our 25th wedding anniversary. Should we hold an evening party? Should we hold a brunch? Should we just go away? So many decisions to make! haha

In the end we decided that we just wanted to go away. We then used the time to try and pick out where we wanted to go. Kristian had to pick 3 places and I had to pick 3, then we shared our ideas. What fun we had! Kristian really was thinking out of the box (and out of our budget!!) He came up with ideas like flying to New Zealand, then hiring a car to travel around the south part of it. Only problem there is that I can only get a week of work at that time of year! The travel time to New Zealand alone is 35 hours each way! haha Not much time left to see the rest of the place.

I didn´t think out of the box. Most of my ideas were in Europe. We still haven´t decided where we would like to go, so we will probably have another one of these nights again - very soon.

Thursday evening and I was out with my neighbour Laura checking out the place where she will hold her 60th birthday party. She wanted me to see it so we could arrange the decorating and how the tables should be. We were getting all inspired and excited.

Friday evening found us going out to help our friends Jette and Filip. They are moving house and had to be out of their apartment this weekend. We went to help clean the place. We cleaned the whole upstairs so it was one thing less that they had to think about.

On the way out to their place we got to enjoy this - a beautiful sunset.....

Early Saturday morning and I was out with my friend from work. She is also moving house soon. She is renting a place from a girl I know from church. We were meeting with her to read through the contract and sign it. The contract is now signed and everything is now offical. My colleague gets to move in May.

We decided to celebrate by going to lunch and had the most delicious fish dish! Then a bit of shopping and we both went our seperate ways home. When I got home Kristian had cleaned the whole house! It was wonderful.

With the house cleaned and ready for another new week we decided to use the rest of Saturday to go out a walk in the neighbourhood. We had hoped the sun would be shining as we have had beautiful weather all week, but unfortunately it was dull and gray, but the nature was still beautiful.

There had to be a selfie!!!

Saturday evening we relaxed at home. Camilla and Andrew were here for dinner so it was great to catch up with them.

I decided to give Kristian a Silver envelope for Sunday afternoon. I had planned something special but since it was dull and gray today I decided to change the plan. I will keep what I had planned for a beautiful sunny day.

So he got the silver envelope early this morning when he woke. He found it on the bathroom mirror.

I had to make sure he wanted to go on  a date with me after the last mix up! haha Lucky for me he ticked the box with a YES!!!

A little later than 12.06 we headed out. I had a picnic all packed and ready.

Kristian had no idea where we were going. He just had to follow my directions. We headed out to a place not far from us - Jægerpris Castle. A beautiful old castle from about 1400s. We had never been there before. It was beautiful but soooo cold. The castle wasn´t open for exploring, it first opens at Easter.  The wind was cold so we had a quick walk about the place before heading back into the heat of the car.

We drove around a little and then headed out to one of the northerly parts of the area we were in. In the summer you can take an 8 minute ferry across to the other side. We sat at the harbour, in the car, and ate our picnic lunch. It was really cosy.

We drove around a bit more and then headed in the direction of home. We saw a hot dog place on the way home and just had to stop for a good old Danish hot dog. It was delicious. This we ate outside in the freezing cold and enjoyed it!! Getting into the warm car afterwards to drive home was just as enjoyable!

It was a really great afternoon out, seeing lots of beautiful nature from the comfort of a warm car! And off course getting to hang out with hubby was my favourite thing of all! (want a bucket?! hehe)

Sunday 8 March 2015

Love the weekend.....

I love the weekend and ours started with a bit of decorating. Mia, our neighbour had a birthday on Friday so we decorated the front of the house with balloons, flags, banners and the usual enormous underwear (pants and bra) with HAPPY BIRTHDAY written on it!

On Saturday I had planned a Silver Wedding Envelope.......

It didn´t go exactly as planned. You would think that after all these years, Kristian and I would know how to communicate!!!
We don´t!! haha

Usually Kristian will tell me if he is doing something at the weekend. (If he is doing something, it usually has something to do with motorsport, and usually he tells me about it on a Wednesday when he comes home from helping at the Go-kart shop or else he asks if we have anything on at the weekend!)

He came home on Wednesday and said that the new go carts had arrived from Italy and that there had been some happy boys and fathers at the shop that eveing collecting their products. He said nothing more than that and so I didn´t worry about him having other plans on Saturday.

Well you can probably guess what happened. I arranged our Silver wedding anniversary envelope and gave it to him on Friday evening.

When Kristian read the letter I could see by his face that something was wrong. He told me that he had planned a training day at the racing track with the new drivers that had just gotten their new carts. When he told me this I could have used him as a punch bag!

WHY DIDN`T HE TELL ME HE WAS GOING OUT ON SATURDAY!!!! They had only arranged it on Wednesday evening so why hadn´t he mentioned it like he usually does?!!!! Especially when he knows I am making special envelope days!!!  Frustration!!!

(When Kristian´s mum heard about my envelope idea she said she wanted to give us one of the treats in the envelope, which would be dinner at her place. So this is what I decided we should do this weekend. We would eat dinner at his mums. We would also go out exploring, we would find a new place on the map, go check it out and I would make a picnic breakfast that we could enjoy in the open air. Then we would head over to his mums.)

He felt sooo bad!!! I was disappointed because I had been looking forward to exploring a few lakes that I had found on the map, but I told him to go to the race track anyway. (I would get over it!) We could do the exploring of the lakes another day, but one thing he couldn´t get out of  and that was going to his mums. He had to be there by 1pm! She had been preparing this special meal for us all week!

So at 1pm on Saturday we turned up at his mums. Kristian came from the gokart track and I came from home. His mum had the most delicious meal prepared for us. A three course meal. She had been busy!

She had invited Kristian´s brother Anders and his wife Lis. We had such a great afternoon with them. The afternoon flew by with loads of great discussions and talks around the table. I loved it.

We finally headed home at 6.30pm.

We were only home a short time when we had to head out again. Kristian had been invited, along with the rest of the village, to the local farm for a Beer tasting evening. I had been invited too, but it´s not my thing...Cola tasting would be more me! haha It was mostly the men in our little village that were going.

Since our men were going out, I invited one of the neighbours to the cinema with me, so we went to see the film - Still Alice. It´s about a woman in her early 50s that that gets Alzheimers. It is such a terrible illness. Julianne Moore who acted Alice did a brilliant job. I must admit I shed a few tears. A really good film but also a hard film to watch too.  But we had a really lovely evening out.

When I got home Kristian wasn´t far behind me! A rather great day even though it didn´t turn out totally as I planned.

This afternoon I met my friend Jette and her kids for a picnic.

We found this lovely place with loads of hay bales that the kids could run around on. We ate lunch and played on the hay bales. Then it was home to sit and draw and make things. I stayed for dinner and even had the privilege of getting the kids ready for bed. I also got to read them a goodnight story! Oh how I miss having small kids!

Another really great weekend. Bring on the new week! I´m all charged up and ready for it!
