Back to normal....

....well as normal as I can be!!
After a few days of celebrating Kristian´s 50th birthday,  life, once again, settled back to the normal every day routine.

I must admit by Friday I was feeling rather exhausted!! I hadn´t stopped all week and was in need of a relaxing evening. Kristian was off work Friday (9 sept) however he was up at 6am ready to travel to the other side of Denmark for a go-kart race.  He would be away all weekend.

I would be alone Friday evening, so I had a plan. I came home from work, spent 3 hours cleaning the house, changing the beds and doing the washing. I have no idea where I got my energy from but I knew if I got everything organised and cleaned on the Friday afternoon then I would have a weekend without housework!

It felt soooo good to accomplish what I had set out to do and I rewarded myself with a delicious dinner, some chocolate and a cola!! It was then feet up on the sofa to watch some TV and a film. It was the perfect Friday evening!

Last Saturday morning I was able to relax. In the afternoon I headed over to my other neigbhours house for a Summer party in her garden. It was sooo much fun. We went into the forest in teams, and had different competitions and quizs to complete. It was fun to meet her family. It was then back home to get ready for an evening out with my crazy friend Anne.

We went to a lovely Italian restaurant not far from us. We had delicious food. The weather was gorgeous so we were able to sit outside and enjoy both the food and weather.

After dinner we went a walk around the small town and found some lovely shops - pity they were closed, although maybe it was just as well they were closed! We were in the mood to spend money and buy clothes!

We had such a cosy evening exploring the wee town. At 8pm we headed over to the cinema to see the new Bridget Jones film. It was so funny.

It was then home to me for coffee/tea and a good old natter. It´s great to have friends to share life with.
There was also time for a bit of silliness!  There was a lot of laughter. Anne left in the wee hours of the morning! We really have to remember that we are not sooo young anymore! It was a killer getting up on Sunday morning!

I spent time during the week looking at old photos again. I found some funny ones from a few years back.....

I was also looking for photos of Leah from when she was small. It was her birthday on Friday and I wanted to use some of the photos to decorate the table for our evening meal. I found some cute ones of her.

It really doesn´t feel so long ago that she was this size....

Friday 16th Leah turned 19!! Once again we were celebrating!

We had invited Andrew and Camilla to dinner and also one of Leah´s friends. Thank goodness she didn´t want a huge party for her birthday.  Lasse unfortunately could not get away from the army to come celebrate with us.

We had a lovely evening together. Good food, good company and a good film to end it all! Just what we all needed on a Friday evening!

Leah got some new things for her room. She wants to paint and re-arrange her room so she was sooo happy for the new things that she got!

Saturday morning I was up early. Laura, Pernille and I had planned a girls day out. We started the morning at McDonalds for breakfast. It was Egg Mcmuffins all around - yummy!!

Then we headed over to this huge material and wool shop. It was amazing. I was getting sooo inspired to make things. We were there to find material for Laura to make new cushions for her sofa.  We spent a few hours there and could easily have spent even more hours, but we wanted to get to the farmers market too!

It was late afernoon when I got home.  It had been the perfect Saturday out.

Leah arrived home from work and got ready for a date with Lasse. He had come home to take her out for dinner to celebrate her birthday.

Today my mother-in-law had invited her daughters and daughters-in-law to lunch.

We had such a great afternoon together, just us girls! (well our wee nephew happened to sneak into the party but that was ok, he was allowed to stay! :-)

We caught up with each others lives, had fun playing Bingo, and just enjoyed being together.

I feel blessed to have such wonderful sister-in-laws to share life with.

Celebrations.....

It´s been a week of celebrations!

It started with our 26th wedding anniversary on the 1st September. Where has the time gone?! 26 years married and 27 years together. I have now spent more time with Kristian than I have alone.

Around 1.30pm on the 1st I got a surprise. A bunch of flowers were delivered to my work, especially for me. I was not expecting anything and this wee gesture from Kristian really touched my heart.

That evening we went out to dinner. We went to this Italian restaurant near us. The food was absolutely delicious! We had a 3 course meal before heading over to the cinema to see the new re-make of Ben Hur. It was such a lovely date evening.  We feel so blessed to have such a good marriage, something we don´t take for granted.

On the 7th September Kristian turned 50!!! Can you believe it??!!!! 50!!!! haha I can´t believe my hubby is that old! (only joking!)  Kristian doesn´t really like big parties and being the center of attention but I really couldn´t let this birthday go by without some sort of celebration.

So Sunday afternoon, on the 4th September, I arranged for Kristian´s family to come for hot chocolate, warm buns called boller (a Danish tradition)  and cake. They would also stay for dinner soI was busy in the kitchen getting things ready....

It was sooo much fun having Kristian´s family here. In Denmark they write a lot of songs for parties and so Kristian´s mum had brought a song along for him.

I had also written a couple of songs for Kristian.  One was in Danish and the other in English. After the buns and cake we sang the first Danish song which was soooo hilarious. We were in fits of laughter.

I then had a quiz to see how well they knew their brother. It too went down a treat. We ate dinner and then between dinner and dessert this strange looking man turned up.  He had an English song with him for us all to sing. There was a lot of laughter and fun.

Kristian really enjoyed himself and he got some great gifts from the family.

Monday evening he was of at his go-kart shop, so I baked a cake that he could take down there and share with all his customers.

Tuesday 6th September I had invited some good friends over for dinner. I hurried home from work to get the place all decorated and ready for another wee party for Kristian.

We had such a great night together. Once again there was a lot of laughter. We are so blessed to have such a great bunch of friends and a wonderful family.

On the 7th Kristian got his present from me - a zoom lense. We both had taken the day off work, Leah too.

We decided we would go on a picnic and spend the day out in the forrest or by one of our lakes, so that Kristian could try out his new lense. Unknown to Kristian was the fact that Sara and her Christian would also be joining us for the picnic. They too had gotten the day of work and were driving for 3 hours to spend the day with us.

As we walked along the forrest path we suddenly bumped into Sara and Christian. My Kristian was soooo surprised!

We had a lovely afternoon picnic down by the lake and when it started to rain a little we headed home and watched a film.

Then we headed out to dinner. We were meeting Andrew and Camilla for dinner (they unfortunately couldn´t get time off to come on the picnic) but we had such a lovely evening together.

At 8pm Sara and Christian were ready to make the long journey back home again. We were ready for home too. It had been a great few days of celebrating and Kristian really did enjoy himself. He has thanked me soooo many times for organising all the celebrations and has talked about how much he enjoyed the whole thing!

It was all a lot of work and planning - but sure, he´s worth it!
