Kristian fell asleep at the wheel...

My hubby is usually a very responsible driver, however tonight he did the unthinkable! He fell asleep at the wheel! How dangerous can you get!

Kristian had been sitting racing at his computer, I had been sitting across the way in the living room updating my blog with all the posts I had deleted. I had got used to the sound of the roar of an engine from his computer, but suddenly I realised it was very quiet.

I thought to myself "has Kristian gone to bed without saying goodnight, or without me noticing?" So I stopped typing and looked across to where he races - you can see below what I saw! HAHA He had fallen asleep while racing on his computer. I just had to get a snap of it before I woke him!!

What a laugh we had. I think it´s time to get him tucked up into bed. He is, after all, not as young as he used to be!! (and sitting at a computer racing is really hard work!!)

We have had a good day today. I went to the hairdressers, then met Kristian afterwards for a wander around town. We had a lovely lunch in our wee french cafe before heading home.

The reason I actually went shopping today was to get some presents for our two neices who have a birthday tomorrow. I printed out a wish list from them just before going to town, and thought about what shops I wanted to go too, to buy something for them. Then I wandered into these shops, had a look around and left, without once thinking about presents. I totally forgot all about buying presents. How weird is that!! At 3.30pm I remembered. But by that time we were home.

In Denmark all the shops close at 2pm on a Saturday (some stay open to 4pm but that´s in the next town, and I couldnt make it back there in time.) The only place open in our town is the supermarket - until 4pm. What a panic I was in! I jumped into the car and drove up to see if I could find anything suitable for them there. I think I did!! (hope they like what I got!)

Meanwhile Leah and her friend totally enjoyed shopping all by themselves. They bought a few t-shirts for themselves. The film was a big hit and they did well finding the train home.

Leah called me twice on the way home, just to make sure it was the right train they were getting. She was all pleased that she had achieved that. I picked them up at the train station in our town.

Her friend stayed for dinner and then another friend came over to watch "The Kids Eurovision Song Contest." (Oh boy, some of those kids can´t sing!!) Finally, I kicked everyone home at 10pm and Leah was quickly tucked into bed. Peace at last.

Now I am about to head into bed.

(P.S. - you might notice that the blog entries are growing again. I have decided to take a ½ hour everyday to update my blog with all the old entries. Before long it should look like it´s old self!!)

Laura, don't do that to me, I started reading your post before getting to the pic. I was envisaging all sorts of accidents. He must've been very tired to fall asleep in that position.

Glad Leah and her friend had such a great time shopping on their own.

I probably shouldn't be admitting this publicy, but reading about Kristian reminded me. Last Saturday David & I were at a golden wedding anniversary. They kept filling his glass - funny I was on orange and had to ask for it to be filled, he was on wine and didn't! Anyway, afterwards we drove to Costco, but while there I took unwell, so said to David to drive home. It was about 2 hours after we had left the hotel. About 1 hour after we got home, I suddenly remembered and said to David "You shouldn't have been driving at all - you were way over the limit!!!!!!!!" Both of us are normally so careful, but we both just totally forgot and couldn't believe how easily we forgot!

Oh Rhoda you were very very lucky!! Slap on the back of the hand!!!!!

One day Ronnie and I were out for a drive on his motorbike & we were on the M1 heading for Lurgan direction. Well this a very boring stretch of motorway and I fell asleep on the back of the bike!! He said he could feel me leaning on his back and I was getting heavier and heavier. It was only when we went off the motorway and the bike lent to the side going around the roundabout that I woke with a jump! He told everyone he met for weeks and our friends were all laughing at me! My mum wasnt a bit impressed and banned me from going on the bike again. That was about 5 years ago & Ive never been on it again.

Lisa's already told you off about the drinking and driving thing.

I hate that when I go to weddings. Everyone on the wine can have as much as they want, but if you don't drink alcohol, you have to ask for a drink that isn't water and I have had to pay for it before. It really does my head in. I don't drink alcohol and I generally end up with nothing but water, or have to go and pay for my own at the bar. I think it's absolutely disgusting. Rant over!!!

Laura my dear have you noticed how many senior moments you are having recently? Good preparation for when you turn 40!

Lisa you are so right, we were very 'lucky', I guess because David handles drink so well (not that he does it often - don't want to give you all the impression that he's a secret drinker, he's not - can't even remember when he last had a glass of wine) that there was nothing to remind us - except maybe that we were in our glad rags! I mean even David doesn't normally wear a suit on a Saturday!!! I guess it was another senior moment! It was a good lesson, it's never happened before, and hopefully senior moments permitting it won't happen again!!!!

I'm trying to imagine falling asleep on a motorbike! How?????

Pauline I agree with you, I was not pleased! Why should we non drinkers be discriminated against?!But the crazy thing is that on the golden wedding all the drinks were paid for by the couple - so why didn't they ask us? We were basically invisible!

Rhoda, don't get me started!!!!! Honestly it really does my head in. I don't know why people don't think about non-drinkers, are they trying to encourage drinking and driving, because there are also people who don't want to drink because they are driving. Fill their glasses up with as much wine as poss, but leave those to pay for their own who don't drink. AGGHHHHHH. Thankfully we don't have any more weddings to go to. At least no-one we know is planning a wedding any time soon.

Is it just me, or are weddings really boring? I loved my own and a few of my friends, but mostly you don't know anyone and people ignore you and then you have to pay for your own drink (!!!!), then the photos take hours, then the mostly boring speeches (apart from Stuart's, for those who know me well, he got out a white cardy because he wanted to provide for all my needs, all it did was provide him with a standing ovation from our friends!!!), on and on and on and on... Of all the weddings I've been to now (lots and lots) I've probably really enjoyed 6 tops. Didn't go to any of yours, so I'm safe!!! Does that make me sound like a right misery? Don't answer that. Thankfully Stuart feels the same.

It depends on the wedding - some are fun others long and boring....I think it also depends on how well you know the people too.

Many times when you go to parties or weddings here in denmark you can get split up from your husband. I really hate that!! One time at this party I was split up from Kristian and got to sit beside 3 other men (you had to pick cards and all those that had the same card sat together) boy they were so boring. They would not talk at all, they were all really quiet, so they didnt talk to each other and they didnt talk to me...at one time I thought I was playing 20 questions - cause I asked so many questions and I only got yes and no answers!!

When I first came to denmark it use to annoy me going to parties and things, cause people just didnt talk to each other, at least for a while....now I love it, I make fun of it...so before we go to a party, I do a wee act for kristian and the kids about how everyone will react. Here is what usually happens. People arrive. They will go around the group and shake hands with everyone, they will say just their name....not even a sentence and then everyone will stand around and smile at each other, it is really hilarious....no one really talks, someone will make a comment and people will laugh, then smile for another 10 minutes until someone else makes a comment and then they laugh again.

Thankfully it´s not like that at Kristians family. I love their parties cause we just get in there and talk. I have such a great, danish family!
