Well this weekend was wonderful. I did nothing but relax - well almost nothing but relax. I did have a pile of dishes to clear up on Saturday (from the Friday night visit of my colleagues.)I did a bit of food shopping as well, and a couple of piles of clothes got washed. That was about all I could get myself to do.
Sara and Kristian went off on Saturday to a go-kart race - yes the season has started again. They would spend the night at Signe (Kristians sisters house). Andrew was over staying with his friend Thomas. So it was only Leah and me at home. We decided to make the most of it. We actually enjoyed the peace and quiet. We downloaded some films and crawled into bed early. We had a really cosy evening watching "Bride Wars". Then Leah headed into her own bed. I lay on in mine and watched another film - "Last chance Harvey". It was really rather sweet and oh soooo relaxing!!
Sunday afternoon we planned to go on a bike ride to a wee lake close by but did we do that? No!! - we totally relaxed all afternoon and stuffed our faces with ice-cream and chocolate. It was wonderful - just what we needed!! haha
We ate a late dinner and just as we were about to sit down and eat the door bell rang. There on the doorstep was Jette, Philip and Jonathan. It was so fantastic to get unexpected guests. They just decided to drop by and see if we were home. They ended up sharing dinner with us. There was lots to go around. It really made my day, just having someone come by unannounced...it really felt like home!!
Late in the evening Kristian and Sara arrived home - the race had gone ok - she finished 10th which I thought was fantastic - but Sara was not satisfied with that - she wanted to do better....ah, well there is always the next race!

Glad you had a relaxing weekend, it will refresh you for the troops return!!
Laura, I know what you mean about people just arriving at the door - I think N.Iron must be the last place in the world where that happens on a regular basis - and I miss it so much, and love it when it happens.
So how often will Kristian & Sara be away - do they have to go all over Denmark? Sara we'll be watching your season with interest.
Isn't it great that Leah loves the same films as you:-)
We always have people turning up at the house. But its usually when the house is a mess, the dishes are stacked up on the drainer or Ive just had a bath and am sitting in my dressing gown & pj's! Never usually when the house is all lovely & clean! In one day last week my friend Elaine called, while she was here Ronnie's friend called, while they were here there was a carpet fitter measuring the hall & stairs, about an hour later Jehovah's witnesses called, took me a while to get rid of them as one of them turned out to be the dental nurse in Connor's orthodontist so she tried the 'hello, I know you so you'll listen to me approach'!, then someone selling Sky tv and lastly the man came to read the electric meter!! All in one day!! That was an exception but I felt like the house hadnt stopped the whole day!
Own goal Lisa!!!!!!!!!!
If you had a dishwasher then the dishes wouldn't be piled up on the sink. LOL That's another one of the things I love about a dishwasher is that at least the sink can be kept tidy:-)
Amen to that Rhoda - I am now thinking about just putting dirty dishes in the dishwasher to get them out of the way, then take them out of the dishwasher a bit at a time and wash them...mmmhhh now what a good idea!!
Rhoda the dishes are only piled up on the drainer when someone calls unexpectedly!!! At other times they are put away!
What I find is if youve eaten a big meal, getting up right away and washing, drying and putting away the dishes helps work off some of the calories, and you dont feel all full-up and sleepy! I know I feel much better for it!
I HATE washing dishes!!!!!! (have to go now and wash my dishes - YUK!!)
What a great idea Laura!
I had a friend who wanted to have 2 dishwashers - one for the dirty dishes, and one for the clean ones! So that he would never have to empty it!
Lisa I go for a walk!!! The only time in my life I enjoyed washing dishes (nearly) was in Iran, when we were in the orchard and we all washed them together at the well, then it was fun!
The job I detest the most is washing curtains, all that taking them down, ironing, hanging them up again, I hate it! Ive slowly but surely changed all the curtains in the house to tab top or ring top - curtain hooks drive me to distraction!!! Honestly I would nearly be crying when the curtains needed washed!
I just get new curtains Lisa!
I also meant to say earlier that is such a lovely picture of Sara - oh to be photogenic - but then again it helps when you start with good raw material!
Wash curtains? What's that?!
I was also about to say that Rhoda - wash curtains - whose does that!! hahaha (ok I admit it - I did over Easter!)
I said it did it, I just didnt say how often!!! Every millennium lol!!!
I hate washing dishes too, oh and the ironing. Lisa I think you mentioned that doing-the-dishes-to-burn-off-calories thing before. The lady doth protest too much, me thinks. I'm surprised you don't have a dishwasher given how much you love gadgets in your household.
I made curtains for our back room when we first moved in. They are huge. Each side is 12 metres long and the full length of the wall. They haven't been washed in 6 years. We keep thinking about it and then putting it off. To have curtains made for the window will cost a fortune. We cost out getting rail and having them made to measure and the whole thing was nearly £1000!!!!!! I'm sure we could do it cheaper somewhere else, if I could be bothered to look around.
To agree with Rhoda, love the pic of Sara. She is the spitting image of you Laura.
IKEA Pauline!! Get cheap curtains there - then you dont have to wash them cause everytime they need washed you just go buy a new set!! haha save on the electric and water bill haha and washing powder too!!
Both the photos of the girls are gorgeous. You and Kristian make beautiful children Laura!!
Laura, IKEA doesn't make curtains big enough for our window. That's why they would have to be made-to-measure. For the size of the window, I would be spending a small fortune every time they need cleaning to buy new ones. The window runs the full height of the wall and the full width of the house. It's great, it's like a conservatory, but it's not. The people who put the extension on were architects and designed it to allow the most sun in to what would normally be a very dark room. Apparently the extension is about 30 years old, however it looks really modern.
Pauline when I lived in the country I had a dishwahser & I tnink it it was used about 4 times in 3 years, I prefer to just do them myself. When we got the kitchen done recently we couldve got a dishwasher but I didnt want one. Different strokes for different folks as Ronnie always says!
Of course Leah is gorgeous too Lorraine, but since I say that almost every time I see a picture of her, I thought I would make a change and comment on Sara:-)
