Catching up...

...with an "old" friend - that´s what I did yesterday.

After work I went to the hairdressers, then came home to pick up Leah and head out to visit my friend Laura and her daughter Mia. We were going on a picnic together.

Laura lives in out in the countryside. Just outside her door is a field that looks out over a lake. (You can´t really see the lake in the picture, but it´s there!) It´s a beautiful place and you always have the company of the sheep. (which Laura loves!!! - she spoils those sheep!)

Our evening was spent sitting on the hill, eating a delicious picnic and catching up with each others busy lives. Leah and Mia enjoyed seeing each other too. It was a really great evening and I ended up coming home far too late .

Today was hard!! I was tired, it was hot and a lot of cleaning needed done at the school. We are doing the big "end of year" clean. By 2.30pm I could do no more, it was time to leave the cleaning behind for another day.

After work I did shopping for the old woman I visit. I spent half an hour with her before heading home to make dinner. Dinner was something quick. It was too hot to cook, so a box of potatoe salad and meat balls, bought at the local supermarket and served with salad, made a wonderful cold dinner.

I had a planning meeting tonight at church so time between dinner and going out was short. I wanted to talk to my dad, so decided that tonight I would kill two birds with the one stone. I would eat dinner while sitting at the computer talking to dad. However sometimes things don´t go as planned!! Sitting talking to dad I suddenly knocked my plate of the desk and right down unto my white trousers!! Balsamic vinegar was everywhere, not to mention the dinner!!! Aaarrgggghhhhhhh!!! I didn´t have time for that to happen!

Kristian has also had a hard, busy day at work. He had to work a little late. At 6.40pm he came home, just as I was about to leave. I was brushing my teeth and had a mouth full of foam, when he asked me what time I would be home (he always does that - ask me things when I am brushing my teeth!)

Well, I couldn´t answer so I held up my left hand with all four fingers and thumb showing, and my right hand with only 4 fingers showing. (thumb was tucked away and not at all visable!) Kristian looked at my hands and said "oh, 11 o´clock!!!" (and he was serious!!)

I thought I was going to choke!! I couldn´t stop laughing! Then he realised what he had said!!! I left him sitting on the sofa counting his fingers, while muttering away to himself about what a hard day it had been!! hahaha (Think the heat has been getting to us all! 27 degrees today!! Just a little too hot!)

Now I am home again from the meeting.(A little later than 9pm, but that´s the way it goes!) I am soooo ready for bed and then for another busy day tomorrow!! Goodnight all, hope you sleep as well as I know I will!!

Let´s make a date, mate!!

That´s what I did today. I made a date, with my best mate - Kristian.

I have had a busy few months, and Kristian has been busy concentrating on his exam, so we haven´t had much time for dates. All that changed today!

Kristian had his exam until noon. After that he could relax, so I planned a date. We decided to be tourists - so we headed into Copenhagen!!

Instead of taking the motorway there, we decided to drive the scenic route. We stopped for a short walk in the woods - it was soooo beautiful.

When we arrived in the city we decided to head to the Palace. Prince Frederik (our crown prince) is moving into one of the buildings at the Palace. The whole place has been renovated, and Princess Mary and Prince Frederik have had special murals painted in the different rooms. The palace has been open to the public for the last few months, so today we decided to check out how the rich and famous live!!

We really enjoyed seeing the different rooms, and the different decor. In a few months time, Mary, Frederik and their 2 children will live in there.

Then it was over to the Marmorkirken (The Marble church) - I have never been there. It was soooo beautiful inside. Really amazing art work/decor.

Then it was into the centre for a walk down the walking street. You see ALL sorts of people in there!!! We so enjoyed people watching.

We ate dinner and then finally headed home via the scenic route again. Copenhagen is a really beautiful city and we enjoyed being there, but if truth be told, our hearts belong in the country!!!

Want to see wonderful Copenhagen? So come and pay us a visit!! (or you could check out the video below...)

Already Friday.....

....I really don´t know where the week has gone!! (But I feel like I say that alot these days!)

On Tuesday Andrew finished his 10th grade at school. He actually finished school last year, but took an extra year as he didn´t know what he wanted to do. He still is not sure, but after summer he will take a 6 month basic course about becoming an educator/teacher assistant. If this is something he would still like to do at the end of the 6 months, he will apply for the 3 ½ year course. If , however he decides it´s not what he wants to do, well, we will cross that bridge when we come to it.

Right now he is enjoying having holiday.... if you can call it that. He has been at work with me all week, helping with the big "spring cleaning" that we do at this time of year. He has been a great help! (and he is earning himself a wee bit of pocket money which will come in handy when on holiday!)

Wednesday I was working at home finishing off some church work. Then my friend Rhona rang and invited me to lunch. I dont often work from home, so I don´t get the opportunity to go to lunch with a good friend,- I jumped at the chance!

We had a delicious lunch and a good old chat. It was really wonderful to see her again and catch up. Thanks Rhona for that!!! (I had my camera with me and forgot to take some pictures - how stupid can you get!)

Today Leah got the day off school to go into Copenhagen to make a music video for the TV production with the puppets. She had a great day. They were out in the forest filming, and also at an amusement park! When their days work was done they got free rides on the amusements!!

I am sooo looking forward to seeing the finished TV show!

Sara went off today to visit her friend Winnie. She will spend the weekend with her. They plan to head off to a go-kart race. Typical them!!

Kristian got to do something today that he doesn´t get to do very often!!

Yeah - he got to pick strawberries!!

I on the other hand got to do something that I do quite alot...I got to visit Ikea again with my good friend Audry. We had a great night of shopping (Audry shopped) and chatting (I chatted!).

So that was my week!! Tomorrow is Friday and Kristian heads off on a course with work. Saturday morning he has his exam!!! (poor him, he is dreading it!)

It´s ordered....

...one of the books for my holiday reading!!

My favourite author, Francine Rivers, has a new book out and today I ordered it. I am just getting together all my books for my holiday. I love to pack all different types of books to take away with me. I have loads of teaching/study books to take, a few biographies but I have no fiction ones, that I haven´t read. Now that problem is solved. (hope Kristian doesn´t read this!! I always have to hid the books all over the car so he doesn´t see how many books I really am taking with me!) Oh I can´t wait to have time to read!!

Kristian and I both love the series "Everybody loves Raymond" so I ordered series 3 (we already have series 1 and 2). A little treat for us in the evenings, something we can watch when lying in bed after a hard day of walking in the moutains!!! Oh I can hardly wait. I am soooo ready for a holiday, and soooo in a holiday mood!!

However, poor Kristian has an exam on Saturday morning. (It´s an education that he is taking through his work.) So he is busy studying while I am busy dreaming about climbing mountains and singing "Edelweiss" - I am putting his head away!! haha

A weekend of endings....

Summer holidays are just around the corner and so a lot of activities in our church are ending for the summer. One of these being our junior club. We had a sleep over, from yesterday to today. The sleep over took place at "Ole´s summer house."
Ole was a man who came to our church. He owned a summer house with its own private piece of beach. While he was alive the church enjoyed the use of his house and when Ole died he left the house to our church to be used for times of fun and fellowship. Well fun and fellowship is what we had this weekend.
A bunch of kids turned up at the summer house yesterday, just after lunch, in time for cake and juice along with an afternoon and evening full of games. The weather was great and by late evening the kids even dared to go swimming (crazy bunch - half of them still had all their clothes on when they went in!)
We enjoyed a beautiful sunset. Finally just after midnight the house was quiet and we two leaders were able to get some sleep!
It was up early this morning to pack and clean, then off to church with them all. It was the last day of Sunday school until the start of August, so a party had been planned.
The kids were put into teams and different posts were set up in different places for them to try out. The team with the most points at the end, won.

Leah, along with 3 others, leaves Sunday school this year. They are too old. They will become helpers in Sunday school. (and the Sundays that they are not on the program to help, they go into the teenager Bible study group.)
Well today, all those who were leaving got a makeover from the other kids. They had sooo much fun doing this. (and those leaving enjoyed the attention!)

Then there was food for all the kids.....and a surprise.....
The surprise was that we had rented a softice machine! Free ice cream for all!! This was a BIG hit!!! (even with the teenagers!)

Finally, when the kids all went home, it was time for us Sunday school teachers to end this part of the year of working together, with a chinese buffet. It was really nice to have time to chat and hear about the different holiday plans for the summer.

A busy weekend - YES!!! but a rather good one, I would say!!! It´s good to have a break from things for a while. There has been a lot to see to over the last few months, but for the next 6 weeks I have nothing to do for the kids work at church! I´m on holiday!!!

We´re going south....

...we´ve decided to head south for our holidays. The original plan was that we would just stay here in Denmark. We looked at doing a biking holiday around some of the small islands, we looked at summer houses, motels and caravans....but in the end, we admitted, that we just loved packing our car and driving the thousands of miles south to see some mountains.

This year we have decided to try out Austria. Above are the apartments we will stay in. The views look amazing.

and the apartments inside aren´t too bad either!! (Better than a tent and even cheaper!!)

It´s just a little south of Salzburg, so a trip to see "The Sound of Music " sites are already on the plan. We are soooo looking forward to getting away. Sara will stay at home to look after the cat, well that´s not the real reason! She actually has a holiday planned with her friends, so it´s just Kristian, Andrew, Leah and me again this year.

Where did that weekend go?

...I can´t believe it`s already Monday!!!

Friday Alessio left again for Belgium, but not before we had some fun. On Thursday evening out came the Playstation/singing star and on went the Mamma Mia outfit, along with a lot of other wigs! There was no holding us back. Alessio really got in on the fun too! (Kristian and Andrew stayed hidden, Kristian in his cupboard, Andrew in his room!)

We sure had fun!

Then on Saturday my boss´s daughter got married and I was asked to go and help at the reception. My Saturday was spent on my feet, running around like a mad woman trying to get everything ready before the guests arrived!!! I really didn´t think we would have everything ready in time, but we did. It was a beautiful wedding! I must say, that when I arrived home I just collapsed unto the sofa!! I´m getting to old for all this! haha

On Sunday I had a busy morning. We were having a lunch after church to raise money for a boy in China, so he can have an operation. I spent Sunday morning making, I don´t know how many, sandwiches! The lunch went well! Finally Sunday afternoon we arrived home at 2.30pm and I could relax!!!

Tuesday, 8 June 2010

He left...

and then came back. Who? Alessio!!! Here´s the story...

Alessio´s plane was leaving at 7pm this evening. Kristian rushed home from work at 4.30pm to take him to the airport. The plan was that Kristian would take Sara out for a burger and have a bit of quality time together, just the two of them, after they left Alessio off at the airport. But things don´t always go as planned...

Kristian rang not so long ago to say that he and Sara would be coming home to eat dinner after all and that they would have an extra person with them - Alessio!!

Alessio had booked his flight home for the 8th July and NOT the 8th June!!!! They only realised that when he tried to check in. Unfortunately (or maybe those two would say fortunately) they couldn´t change his flights today. I haven´t got a clue what is happening, they are on their way home even as I type. This really made me laugh!!! hahahaha Good one Alessio!!! I´ll keep you all posted.

Updates...

My man did it again!! He came in third at his go-kart race and won his second bronze medal. What a happy chap!!

Then the insurance money came through for Leah`s bike, so off we went shopping. We found a bike that she liked and it acutally looks a little bit like the old bike that was stolen. Leah is very happy to have a bike again

Sara is also happy that Leah has a bike again. Now she can borrow it from time to time and that´s exactly what she did - borrowed it. Alessio borrowed Andrew´s bike, and the two of them took the bikes for a spin.

Two days in a row...

...with sunshine and heat!! Again we needed to get out. This time we headed for the beach. The food was packed, the BBQ grill too, this was going to be fun!!

There was only one problem. When we got to the beach my family thought there was just too much sand there???!!! (I honestly don´t know what they expected, I did tell them we were going to the beach!) Anyway they wanted to go to "Heather Hill" - a place we have visited frequently over the years. So Heather Hill it was.

Yes, this was more like it! I had a happy family who must have told me 50 times within an hour, that Heather Hill was a much better place to hold a picnic/BBQ.

So the BBQ grill was started....

The sausages put on to cook....
There was lots of food for all.
After dinner the kids took a walk down to the beach while Kristian and I got tidied up. Then it was a walk over the hills for everyone. It really was a beautiful evening.

A drive down the coast road home ended in Mcdonalds for one of their ice creams, before finally arriving home, tired but content.
