I have had a busy few months, and Kristian has been busy concentrating on his exam, so we haven´t had much time for dates. All that changed today!
Kristian had his exam until noon. After that he could relax, so I planned a date. We decided to be tourists - so we headed into Copenhagen!!
Instead of taking the motorway there, we decided to drive the scenic route. We stopped for a short walk in the woods - it was soooo beautiful.
When we arrived in the city we decided to head to the Palace. Prince Frederik (our crown prince) is moving into one of the buildings at the Palace. The whole place has been renovated, and Princess Mary and Prince Frederik have had special murals painted in the different rooms. The palace has been open to the public for the last few months, so today we decided to check out how the rich and famous live!!
We really enjoyed seeing the different rooms, and the different decor. In a few months time, Mary, Frederik and their 2 children will live in there.
Then it was over to the Marmorkirken (The Marble church) - I have never been there. It was soooo beautiful inside. Really amazing art work/decor.
Then it was into the centre for a walk down the walking street. You see ALL sorts of people in there!!! We so enjoyed people watching.
We ate dinner and then finally headed home via the scenic route again. Copenhagen is a really beautiful city and we enjoyed being there, but if truth be told, our hearts belong in the country!!!
Want to see wonderful Copenhagen? So come and pay us a visit!! (or you could check out the video below...)

Ah lovely!! We had a mini date today too! Mum had the kids for a couple of hours so we went into town as Ronnie had to take his phone to the apple shop as there was dust under the screen, so we went to Starbucks first and had caramel coffees and cake, then to the apple shop and while we were waiting on them fixing the phone, we went to the Little Cupcake shop and had cupcakes and milkshakes! All fattening but who cares, we had a really nice time. We even held hands like a pair of teenagers!
Ah that´s great Lisa!!! We need to do that from time to time!! Important to keep the romance alive. Glad you enjoyed your day;-)
Really glad you had such a great time. It was really interesting seeing the different words in Danish and English. Is Kirken, church? I love languages and the similarities, just wish I could speak one fluently.
It must be a week for it, Stuart and I had lunch together on Monday.
yes Pauline - Kirken is church and HAVN is harbour and NY is new so NYHAVN becomes new harbour...you should take up another language if you are soooo interested...there are great courses to be found for the computer which are interactive. If you have a mic on your computer they even tell you how accurately you say the word in that language.
So you have also been out with your hubby!! Great - it is a week for it!!! We have been soooo bad at making time for each other in the past couple of months....life has been hectic so we soooo enjoyed the day yesterday and next weekend we go on holiday so we will have loads of time together! Can´t wait!!
Tourists for the day:) It is a good thing to o in your own city . . . . occasionally. Looks like fun.
Lisa. . . . I'm so delighted that you and Ronnie enjoyed your date to:) More of that:)
I would probably have had a date to if my husband hadn't slept all day! No I'm not joking!!!!!!!!! He did get up about 10.00, came down for breakfast and basically fell fast asleep on the seatee and that was him for the day - I tried and failed to rouse him a few times.
Poor David must be exhausted from his travels!! Well there is always next weekend Rhoda...so plan something then!! It is fun to do your local area...next time I am going to go even more local..to the next town. There is lots to see there too.
We are having a gorgeous day here...it´s hot!
Laura, I've just got to watch the video - looks great. The Marble church looks so beautiful - modern architecture just can't match the classic stuff like this!
I'm most impressed that you managed to get the words of the song to match your wee clips - 'sailing' just as the boat comes under the arch:) What a clever girl you are!
I also laughed at the some of the really original names of things: "the round tower" wouldn't you think they could come up with something a bit more imaginative than that? But I guess it's a tower and it's round, so round tower is pretty good!
Question is it really called 'the walking street'? Or did you forget the name for 'pedestrian precinct' LOL
hahahaha Rhoda getting the boat to come out as they sing "sailing" was done by chance. I spent like 10 minutes putting the film together....just stuck the clips of video on the computer, added the music and titles and played it. To my surprised it fit.
Also in the marble church you see a man pointing at something and it also fits with the words on the song..."there she stands" I think the words are...and the man points when they sing that. I thought it was rather good!! LOL
As for the walking street. I suppose I called it that because that is what people call it, if they speak english. It is called Strøget in Danish (Strøget can´t be directly translated like the tower can and the marble church can.) so when you use english you say "The walking street" so I actually didn´t forget the name pedestrian precinct, it just didn´t sound right, cause you never say that when talking about Strøget. But suppose if I was to use my english properly it is called pedestrian precinct or pedestrian street. hahaha - just sounds weird saying it like that. (if you get my drift! haha) By the way it is meant to be the longest walking street in Europe. It measures 1.1km long;-)
Now when are you girls going to come shopping on Strøget???
Where do you find out about these online courses?
I'll start saving - I loooove shopping!!
