Easter.....

Easter in Denmark starts on Thursday, the day when Jesus ate the last supper with his disciples. Most things are closed and people are off work, it´s the same on Good Friday.

So on Thursday we had a full house. Kristian´s mum came up to join us for brunch. Sara and Christian were here and Camilla came too. Leah wasn´t home as she went to say goodbye to the love of her life. He was going away to spend Easter in Prague at some football camp.

So the rest of us had a really lovely brunch together. We sat and talked at the table for ages. In need of some air we headed out for a walk. We didn´t stay out long!! It was just sooo cold and windy.

Kristian was going to play his sax at a gospel service with some of our friends so he left in the early afternoon. The church was a bit of a journey away. The rest of us stayed at home and enjoyed a quiet afternoon sitting around chatting.

Kristian´s mum headed home just before dinner. Leah arrived home again. Andrew and Camilla headed out to the  cinema to see a film. Sara and Christian headed into Copenhagen to visit a friend that was home from America. The house was once again quiet and I settled down to relax on the sofa. I enjoyed the stillness after a house buzzing with people all day! I think I´m getting old!!!
Kristian arrived home again just after 8pm.

Friday we were up early. Kristian was going out on a bike ride with our friend Henrik. Since I didn´t get to go to church with Kristian yesterday, I decided I would visit one of the local state churches that was holding a service at 10.30am this morning. It was a lovely service and got my thoughts focused on what is important about Easter.

It was then home to find a house buzzing with activities. The weather had changed for the better and so we decided to make the most of it and head out on a picnic. (Leah wanted a day at home so we left her behind to just relax) We headed to a farm not far from where Camilla lives. She had told us about it so we decided to meet her there with her dog.

It was such a great place. Loads of lambs had been born and you could actually go in and interact with them. We spent some time there among the sheep, lambs and cows. Sara was not impressed. She is such a city girl and couldn´t wait to get away from the farm smells.

We had our picnic and then Andrew and Camilla decided to head back to her place with the dog. Sara, Christian, Kristian and I decided to take the coast road up north and get an ice cream. I have now discovered Ben and Jerry´s caramel chew chew ice cream - oh WOW!! my favourite ice cream! :-)

On our way home we went by our old apartment just to check things out. It was weird going by the place again and seeing different lamps hanging in the kitchen. We have such great memories from there yet we have never regretted moving to where we are now.

We then went to see our old church. The actual building had been sold to the council a few years back as our church joined together with another church in the next town. I was soooo sad to see that the council have actually knocked the building down! What great times we had there!!! Some of the best of memories I have were made in this place. This was my second home for many, many years.

After that we headed home for dinner and after dinner we spent the evening playing Monopoly. We got beaten by Christian. His new nick name is "The Wolf" as in "The Wolf from Wall Street". He made us all go bankrupt, while he had loads of land, houses, hotels and Money!

Saturday and we were all up early. Andrew and Leah had to work while the rest of us decided to have some fun. Once again the weather was beautiful, cold but sunny, so we decided to head to Sweden.

There is a big shopping centre close to Malmo that we wanted to show Sara and Christian. They had a great time there, they both love to shop! There were mostly clothes shops in the centre so Kristian and I were missing our dvd, electronic and computer shops. I am not a clothes shopping person. Only when I desperately need something do I go clothes shopping! (Kristian is just the same!)

Sara found her favorite shop....

We then headed to a wee shop out in the country called Maja´s Cottage. It is a shop that sells candles, candle holders, signs, plant pots etc. The sort of shop I love. Sara and I follow this place on Instagram and every day they post new photos of new stock.

I (and Sara) had gotten the impression, from the photos,  that this place was BIG. We had one hour to check the place out before it closed. Sara and I were wondering if that was enough time for us to see everything. We were soooo excited. When we got in side the place you should have seen our faces. Was this it???!!!  It was soooo small you couldn´t swing a cat in it. We couldn´t hide the disappointment on our faces. We realised we could see every item they had in the place, twice over, and we only would have used 5 minutes of our 1 hour! Our two men had such a laugh at us.

Sara got herself a few things to take back home and when back in the car she surprised her dad and me with a wee gift she had bought us. A beautiful scented candle with the words - I love you on the front.

We decided it was too early to head back home so we went a little north to the town of Lund. Here there is a big old cathedral which we wanted to check out. It was really beautiful inside.

They had made a scene of the crucifixion.....

They had this basket sitting with stones in it and a sign explaining what they were for. You took a black stone and thought of something that was weighing heavy on your heart, making you sad. You then held the black stone in your hand and asked God to help you with the thing you were struggling with, the thing that was making you sad. You gave the problem to Him, then you put the black stone in the basket on the floor.

Then you took a yellow stone and thought of something you could be thankful about, something that made you happy. You then thanked God for that thing and put the yellow stone in the other basket on the floor. I thought this was such a lovely idea.

We decided to just eat dinner out  in town but unfortunately we couldn´t find any restaurants open in Lund, so we headed back to Copenhagen and had a wonderful dinner in a lovely restaurant that was giving 20 percent of the bill. Now that was a bargin!

So far it has been a lovely Easter Holiday!
