Roadtrip.....

Monday, late afternoon, we decided to do something spontaneous. We decided that we would drive over to Århus and visit Sara and Christian. They have been on holiday in Italy for 2 weeks and had just gotten home Saturday night.  We had talked to Sara a few times over the weekend and each time we chatted with her she asked us if we were going to come and visit. So we decided that even though we hadn´t planned on going over to visit, we would.

Monday was a productive day. Kristian helps in his friend´s go-kart shop. The shop was badly in need of a clean and the stock needed organised. The shop is open every Monday and Wednesday evenings for a few hours, but they have so many customers during that time that they don´t have time to clean or organise things. We decided that we would go and use a day of our holidays to get things just the way Kristian likes it - organised.

We had a great day down at the shop. I scrubbed and cleaned the whole upstairs, We built new shelves and organised the stock. It looked really well by the time we had finished. We had used 5 hours on the place! It was a job well done!

When we were finished we grabbed a bite to eat at McDonalds and then headed over to say hello to Kristian´s mum. We had some strawberries and ice cream with her. It was on the way to his mums that we decided to make the trip over to see Sara. (We rang Leah and Andrew to hear if they wanted to join us, but they both had already made other plans.) It was just going to be us two!! :-) We decided we would leave early the next morning (Tuesday). We started to get really excited. We were looking forward to seeing Sara (and Christian) again, plus we love our road trips!!!

Tuesday morning and we were awake early full of excitement. I think Sara was excited too. At 7.25am we got a text from her asking if we were on the way!! haha NOPE we were not on the way, what did she think, doesn´t she know us??! - we are not morning people!!! When we say leaving early that means around 9am not 7am!! haha  It didn´t take us long to get up and get ready, pack the car and get on the way.

At 12.17pm we arrived in Aarhus. Sara was working, so we parked the car at her work and went to see her in action at work. She was getting off work for the day at 1.30pm so we arranged to meet for lunch. Kristian and I had almost an hour to check out some of the shops in the main walking street of Aarhus.

On the way over to Sara we realised that my niece (Kristian´s brother´s daughter) was in Aarhus, so we texted her to see if she was free to join us for lunch - she was and we had a lovely lunch together, Kristian, Sara, Sigrid and me!

After lunch we said goodbye to Sigrid and then Kristian, Sara and I did some shopping. We didn´t buy anything, we just went around looking. It was then home to make dinner.

We had the most delicious dinner of grilled Tuna steaks with vegetables. Kristian and I have never had Tuna steaks before and they were delicious.

After dinner we played some games. We started with Partners, a game a little like ludo but you play with a partner. Kristian and I were together and Sara and Christian. It was great fun and even more so because Kristian and I won!

We had strawberry cake for dessert and then Sara and I played Yatzy while the two men saw some motorsport on TV.

Wednesday morning Christian and Sara had to go to work but Kristian and I could take it easy and we did.  We then got ready and headed into Aarhus to do some serious shopping. We both needed some summer clothes for our holiday. Neither of us had any shorts so we went on a mission to find cheap summer clothes and we succeeded in that mission!! We got some great things at great prices.

By 1.30pm we were finished with our shopping. Sara´s friend Winnie was working with Sara that day so we bought sandwiches for us all for lunch and headed over to where they worked. We sat in the kitchen and ate lunch together. It was so good to see Winne again and have time to catch up.

It was coming up 3pm when we decided it was time to head home. It had been a quick but lovely trip over to see them.

We took it easy going home. Instead of staying on the motorway we took some scenic routes and saw some wonderful nature. We stopped for ice cream and coffee in one town and we had a great time just chatting or listening to the radio.

Talking about the radio. The station we were listening to said that if we liked their page on Facebook they would go in and check out the profiles of those that had liked their page, then they would suggest a song for the person they had checked out. So off course I had to like their page just to see if they would check me out! haha

Well, as we are driving along they say they have been checking out some profiles, the first was a man....then the presenter said "I have just been checking out Laura....Laura Rasmussen. She lives in Copenhagen but comes from Belfast Northern Ireland." Then they had a bit of discussion about how to say my name, the Danish way or the English way. Well you should have seen Kristian and I, it was hilarious!!! We were in shock, we should have had a photo of our faces!! They went on to say that I had a lot of photos of sunrises and sunsets, but they weren´t sure if they should pick some irish music for me or the Beattles song - Here comes the Sun! They ended up picking the Beattles song. How funny is that?!!

We ended the trip by going to a wee Italian restaurant that we have passed many times. We had the most delicious pasta dish before we finally arrived home at 8.30pm.

As we were driving home Christian called us to ask if he could come and stay with us that evening. He had just bought a car for his work (he is a car dealer) and it was in Copenhagen. He had to pick it up at 7.30am Thursday morning so he thought it would be better to come to us and stay overnight instead of leaving home in the early hours of the morning. So at 11.30pm this evening Christian and his colleague arrived to spend the night. They will leave early in the morning to collect the car.

Camilla also was here when we got home. She had just come home from a holiday in Spain with her mum. However she wasn´t feeling very well, she had a bit of an upset stomach.

It was a great road trip with my best buddy - Kristian! Thanks for a great couple of days!
