Monday - Day 3 in Rome

Our aim today was to see the Colosseum.

We were up and ready to start our walk to the Colosseum by 10.30am.

On the way we passed some amazing old ruins....

Finally we arrived at the Colosseum...

Amazing place - so much history!

After we had had enough of the Colosseum we walked over to where the races were held at Circus Maximus.

By now it was early afternoon and we were again beginning to wither with the heat. Today it was 35 degrees - so we decided it was time to head back to the hotel for a rest.

As we walked back we decided to go and check out the inside of the Altare della Patria, the big white monument at the end of our road. It is an amazing place - just like the rest of Rome!

In the Photo below the road straight ahead leads to our hotel.

We were home in our hotel again by 3.30pm and once again had a lovely restful afternoon. I actually fell asleep today and when I woke it was time to get ready for going out again.

We went local tonight for eating dinner. It was still very warm outside so we didn´t feel like walking far. Kristian´s colleague had recommended a restaurant that was just around the corner so we set off to this. We sat outside and enjoyed the atmosphere of people going by on the small streets, a man played an accordian and it was all very Italian!!

We spent a good part of our evening sitting there eating, talking and dreaming. Another great day in Rome!
