A 24 hour holiday

Friday afternoon Kristian and I headed off for a 24 hour holiday, alone - without any kids.

Sara was left in charge of Leah while Andrew was off staying at his friends. The girls were looking forward to an evening alone and so were Kristian and I.

We left home around 12.30pm and drove to our hotel. When we arrived we were shown to our room and we were not disappointed. It was soooo lovely. Well have a look for yourselves....

It was then down to the hotels restaurant for coffee/tea and cake. The cake was to die for!! It was soooo delicious and just what we needed at that time of the day.

Kristian enjoying his cake

It was then out and about to see what there was in the area.

We had dinner Friday evening in the restaurant and it was soooo good. A three course meal and by the end Kristian and I were stuffed.
Around 2pm Saturday we headed for home. It was a brilliant 24 hours. (Pity we had to come back to reality again!! haha)
You know this is something all couples should do at least once a year! Even though it was only 24 hours, it felt like we had been gone for ages!! So go get your calendars people, book a weekend and enjoy a 24 hour holiday together!!

Wow the room was gorgeous! When we got married we stayed in the bridal suite and had a 4 poster and it was lovely. The cake looked delicious too, your right, we should all do this even once a year.

I just loved the room Lisa and just being away from everything was brilliant. I am definately going to arrange a weekend away for us in the autumn again. We thought that it was only about 2 years ago that we had been away at another hotel for an evening, we discovered though that it had been 4 or 5 years ago!!! We were a little shocked that it was sooo long ago - so we have said we will try and go away at least once a year, but hopefully we will make that 2 or 3 times a year. Lets see, time will tell.

Laura, you haven't had a bath in years, you dirty hallion.

Also it looked like there were two people already sleeping in the bed. A bit bizarre.

Glad you had a great night away. We probably won't get that for some time to come. Oh well. Not complaining, Alice is great!!!

Glad you had a good time Laura. It is nice to be able to go away and spill coke on someone else's duvet cover:-)
You need to remind Kristian that he promised you last year when you reached your target weight that he would take you away - now maybe he has and you've never blogged it . . . But if I remember right it was to a city of your choice, and then it was put on hold till he got a job - well he's been in his job since last September, and he's had several weekends and trips away so come on!!!!!!!!

Well Rhoda we havent be away to the city of my choice - yet!! That is still to come...there just always seems to be something else that we need to spend the money on...and the next big thing is Sara´s 18th. Her cousin and she want to hold a big party together - sounds exspensive!!!! But Rome og Paris is on the cards within the next year (at least thats the plan - lets see how much we get saved!)

Never noticed that about the bed...must go back and have a look!!

Pauline it wont be sooo long before you and Stuart can go away. Alice is now 2 so in a year or 2 she will be able to handle it. We went away when Andrew was about 3½ years old and he stayed with his granny Rasmussen. It was from 4pm to about 11am. It went great, he had a great time (and he was a home bird, who just wanted mummy all the time) but he was at an age were could understand that we were coming back the next day. So look forward to it!

I think it is sooo important to get away just the two of you, just an evening and early morning makes all the difference and especially when the kids are small. It really helps keep the spark in the marriage.

I remember Kristians brother and us made a deal. We took his 3 kids for a whole weekend 4 times a year and they took ours for a whole weekend 4 times a year. It was brilliant. We booked the weekends at the start of the year. Like end of January at us. End of March at their place. End of May at us etc. They were all about the same age so Sara had someone to play with, Andrew had too and Leah as well. It was hard work the weekend you looked after the 6 kids (especially in our wee apartment) but the next time Kristian and i would be alone all weekend in our own home. It was brilliant!! We did that for a couple of years. Can totally recommend it if you have cousins about the same age.

Ok well that was a long comment..think I better stop and go help Kristian with the washing up. I soon have enough money saved to buy a dishwasher...yipieee just one more month and I should be able to get one!!! Been without our dishwasher since start of March.
