Life.....

.....is busy but good.

We had a nice surprise the other day at work. My boss told us that on Thursday morning we had a  meeting to go to and we had to be in our room, where we take our breaks, at 9.10am sharp. We were all wondering what was happening. He said it was something good so we could relax, none of us were getting fired!

When 9.10am came we were all gathered wondering what was going on.He told us we had to go down to the Home Economics building with him....oh this was starting to sound good!!! As we got nearer the smell of delicious food filled our nostrils!

It turned out that we were being treated to breakfast! Two of the children who have learning disabilities get cookery classes on a Thursday, just them and a teacher. They thought it would be a great idea to make a "happening" for us. They would cook breakfast and surprise us. It was absolutely wonderful! They had set the table and decorated it so beautifully. They had made name tags and menus for us five that were there.

It was so much fun to see how involved they were with it all. Emma, one of the children, got us to sit down and then told us she thought we deserved a treat because we kept the shcool so clean for them and we work so hard. That was just so sweet.

The food was delicious, and I am not only saying that! I have never tasted such a good omlette with bacon, mushrooms and tomatoes. They had also made bread. Again delicious! We had a fruit smoothie which also was soooo good and then for dessert a helping of fruit in a delicious creamy dressing. (I love that word - DELICIOUS!!! (The first picture is actually the dessert.)  They were an inspiration to us! I love my school!

Then on Friday Sara had a birthday. She turned 21!! This is the first time she has not been with us on her birthday. It was very strange. Leah decided to go and visit. So Friday afternoon found us in Copenhagen to get a train to Aarhus. Sara would meet her at the other side and they would have a weekend together.

Christian (Sara´s boyfriend) has a sister Leah´s age so they were going to meet each other and get to spend some time together too. Looking forward to hear about it all this afternoon when Leah returns home.

Things with the house are going well. Most of the furniture is moved. We only need to get our clothes packed and Andrew´s computer and desk moved. Also all the kitchen cupboards need to be packed down. The kitchen in the new place is not ready yet. We are waiting on our brother-in-law to have time to get the worktop and sink on. Hopefully sometime this coming week we will get that done.

We have just too much stuff!! I keep packing and packing and there still seems to be so much stuff in the old apartment. Not furniture, just other things that we have in cupboards!! But the end is in sight. Hopefully by the middle of this week the old apartment will be empty and ready for a good cleaning.

Kristian and I slept here on Friday evening.

Saturday morning and Kristian went away on a go-kart trip to Sweden. He deserved a break. He has worked so hard. Every year his go-kart friends go to Sweden for a training weekend from Saturday to Sunday. They train on a Saturday and then have a BBQ in the evening. He was soooo happy to be able to go to this as he didn´t think he would make it because of the move.

I meanwhile have moved into the new place. I stayed here last night. I was home at the old place packing and ate dinner with Andrew over there. Andrew wanted to stay in the old apartment as his computer has not been packed yet, so he stayed there and I came over here and spent the night. We also moved Shadow over Friday evening so she is starting to get used to the new house.

So hopefully by next weekend we all will be living at our new address. Exciting!

A quick update....

It´s late and I´m tired. Another productive day had by all  in the Rasmussen family.

I got my blinds and cutrains up on one of the windows in the living room. My wee quiet time area....oh I can´t wait to start using it.

Oh dear I found a book and I was away with it. No more work out of me!!

s
Leah´s room is nearly ready. We only need to put up a few pictures and empty a few more boxes. Kristian caught us, once again, having a wee break...this time it was for a cuddle:-)

So hopefully this weekend we will be able to move in! Whooopiiieeee!!! Roll on the weekend!

Under construction

We have spent the day out at the new place.....

Leah and her friend Mia (who is also our new neighbour) spent the evening putting together an Ikea desk that Leah got for her room.

I was really impressed with the girls. They built a whole desk by themselves! I opened the desk the other day and gave up before I even started!

I spent the day emptying boxes. I can´t believe how many books I have. Every box I opened seemed to be filled with books. Thank goodness I have a Kindle now!

Kristian worked away on the kitchen. The end is in sight!

I love my new kitchen. If you only knew how many times I have walked around Ikea and dreamt of having this very kitchen in my own wee home! I feel very blessed!

All is well....

I have been a bit quiet on the blog this last week. All is well, we are just busy, busy, busy!!

Work takes up a lot of our time and neither of us want to be there these days!! We just want to be out at the house getting it all ready for the move. Unfortunately we can´t do that, so we have to be content with what we can get done after work.

We have had a very productive week though and we are feeling soooo good about all the things we are achieving. My hubby is turning into a real wee handy man and because he is such a perfectionist, he does the job well. I really am impressed by what he has achieved. Take a look......

We got the built in cupboard finished this week. Only the doors to be painted and put on.

We got this second hand bed for leah which she loves. Just needed a hoovering and wash down.

The floors were finished this week too.

One evening we had a trailer so we took a few pieces of furniture over to the new place. (oh I can´t wait to start putting in the furniture!)

Kristian got the walls in the kitchen all ready to be papered and painted.

Kristian started building the kitchen cupboards.

It´s starting to look a little like a kitchen! And, believe it or not,  we are still enjoying getting it all ready!

While my hubby worked so hard all weekend, Leah and I headed off on a girlie trip. We went to a "Woman to Woman" conference in Copenhagen. There were quite a few women from our church going as well as a few of Leah`s friends from church. Kristian`s sisters` Signe and Hanne were also going, as well as my niece. We had a brilliant Friday evening and all day Saturday together

The speaker at the conference was a woman from Bradford, Charlotte Gambill. She was so challenging!  The worship was lead by Martin Smith from Delerious and I really enjoyed that. It was so great to be with all these women and to have our attention focused on God. On Friday evening instead of coming home we spent the night in Copenhagen at my nieces new penthouse apartment!! Top floor - 5 stories up, what a killer to climb those stairs but well worth it with the views from the top! A really beautiful, cosy apartment. Hanne and Signe were also there so it was really late by the time we went to bed. I think we are about to start another family tradition of going to this conference each year together, as we all really enjoyed it.

Today is Leah´s birthday. We didnt do as much as we usually do.  She had already gotten her present last month (her guitar) so this evening we went out for a chinese to celebrate. We needed a quiet break after the weekend we had at the conference.

shopped till we dropped....

...that´s what we did today!

Kristian is back - he is feeling all better again! Yesterday was his birthday, he turned 46!!! Imagine me being married to a 46 year old when I am just 28!!! Anyway, yesterday we didn´t do too much for his birthday. My work had a 40 year Jubilee so there was a big dinner last night. We attended that and celebrated Kristian´s birthday together with my colleagues. We had a delicious meal and ate far too much.

After a lovely lie in this morning we decided to go and get things that we needed to get the house into shape.

Last week Kristian´s friend, who is an electrician, had been out at the house changing plugs and sorting out the electricity in the kitchen. Then we had a friend from my school out to plaster the  kitchen walls. The floor man was meant to come on Friday but he got sick so he will come on Monday. Once the floors are done we can begin to move some furniture in!

But we also need a kitchen!! So late this afternoon we went to Ikea and got that. What a lot of work it was gathering all those boxes from their warehouse!! We were sweating buckets by the time we were finished!

Before we went to Ikea we spent the morning going from one DIY store to the next. We were pricing things and each time we ended up going back to the very first place and buying what we needed, as it was the cheapest!

We were just about to drive out to the house with all the things we had bought, when my friend Anne rang. She and her husband Peter and their youngest son were at the house. They thought we would have be there working so they dropped by with cake. It was great to see them and Peter also got a chance to look about the place and give Kristian a bit of advice. After they were gone we headed into Kristian´s sister Hanne´s house to borrow their trailer. We had a quick cup of tea and coffee before we headed to Ikea.

I think we now have all the things we need to get the next stage of the house project done! Hopefully this time next week we will have the kitchen walls papered and painted. The rest of the rooms finished with their paint work. The kitchen cupboards built and put in and the worktop sorted out. Let the work begin!

On the mend....

....so Kristian is on the mend again. He had a sore throat on Thursday and was off work Thursday and Friday. On Saturday he was feeling a bit better so decided to go to CEF´s 65th anniversary. However the "feeling better feeling" soon left him. He probably should have just stayed at home. He spent all Sunday in bed and slept most of this morning away. This afternoon when he got up he was feeling so much better. Getting back to his normal self again. It´s back to work for him tomorrow.

So our friend Jeff arrived on Thursday evening. He was here to attend the 65th anniversary of CEF in Denmark. Like I said, it was held on Saturday and we had a great afternoon and evening. It was great seeing people that I hadn´t seen in years.

Kresten Jensen who has been National Director in Denmark for many years (and was also my boss for many years) was retiring. His daughter Dorthe is now taking over as National Director. There were two other Northern Irish people there, besides Jeff and me. so we had a great time with each other. I must say it was a really great day!!

So now for the house update:-  Things are slowly coming together. The kitchen is now out!  On Wednesday a man is coming to plaster the wall where the tiles have come off. Then we can paper and paint. On Friday another man is coming to sand and polish the floors. So by the weekend we should be able to start putting in the kitchen.

Leah came out with us today and started to paint the woodwork for her room.

Jeff made a start on our bedroom ceiling.

Another couple of coats should do the trick.

Happy Anniversary

22 years ago today I married the man of my dreams, my knight in shining armor - Kristian!

I can honestly say that they have been 22 really great years. We have had more joys than sorrows, more loving than arguing, more laughter than tears, more fun than boredom. All in all I have had a brilliant life together with him.  He really is my best friend who I still love to hang out with. Thanks Kristian for 22 great years

22 great years of memories and hopefully many more years to come to make more memories.....
