MEGA update!!!!

I know, I know, it has been a while! Some of you have been asking where I have disappeared too. I got lazy again. (Sorry) In the past when I got lazy about updating, just knowing dad checked it out each day and that it made him feel a part of our lives over here, made me do it.

Since dad died I wasn´t sure if anyone ever checked the blog, but now I know some of you do. Here I am back on the blog again. So sit back and relax cause now there is coming a really long up-date!

16th September and Leah turned 16!! Yikes how did that happen?!!! She was off school that day as she had been in Austria on a school trip and they got the day off to recover. I took the day off work to be with her and we had a lovely girly day out starting with brunch and then shoppping. Andrew and Camilla met us after they finished school, then it was home to chinese with Kristian and our neighbours. A really cosy day.

Tuesday 17th September and Kristian´s sister Hanne had a birthday. (There are sooo many birthdays in our family in September!) I had been invited to a girly evening with about 15 other girls. I decided to make a bit of an entrance by wearing my Happy Birthday Bra and Pants over my clothes, add a wig and some false teeth and we had quite a laugh. It was a really cosy evening at Hannes with the most delicious cakes!

20th September and I had an art exhibition. It was culture night in our local town and so I was asked to display some of my art work. It was fun getting things ready for that.

Kristian helped me get everything set up on the Thursday evening. We used a couple of hours on that. We were pleased with the result. On the way home from work on the Friday I decided to go and by and check out one of my paintings. I wanted to add a bit more white to highlight some areas. It would take abobut 10 minutes to do. However not everything goes according to plan.....

When I arrived this is what I found.....

The steel wire had come out of the wall! Everything had fallen down!!! Funny thing was it took me a few seconds to figure out what had happened. I thought my paintings had been stolen and I was wondering who on earth would want my paintings when my friend John`s, who is a fantastic painter (professional) paintings were all still there! Then I realised what had happened. I laughed so much, I had no idea what to do!!!

I got things sorted out though. There was no time to hang the whole thing up again so I just set my paintings on radiators and chairs with the black clothe drapped over. It worked well. We had a really great evening and I even sold a painting!

27th and 28th September Leah and I attended a Woman´s conference in Copenhagen. It was absolutely brilliant. Great music, great food, great fellowship and great teaching. It´s just great to take time out and spend time with a whole lot of other women. (There were men there too, but their job was to serve us. They opened the doors, gave us presents, served the food...it was wonderful!! )My neighbour Laura and her daughter came along too along with Kristian´s mum, sister, some neices, my other sister-in-law and a lot of ladies from my church. Already we are looking forward to next year. (so any of you ladies interested in going next year, let me know!!)

Monday 30th September and I met my "old" friend Genny. It was time for our Mexican food date to catch up with each others lives. When we arrived at the restaurant (they know us well after going there 4 times a year for 15 years) they told us that this was the last evening they were open as a Mexican restaurant, they were changing to Chinese. So glad we made it for one last meal. It was a lovely evening catching up with Genny and her life and family.

Friday 11th October was Culture Night in Copenhagen, we decided to go and check it out. We were not disappointed. There was sooo much happening and so many things to do. So we now have a new tradition - we are going to this every year. We spent most of the evening at DR (Danish Radio) seeing how the programmes were made, even got to meet some of the famous people from radio and TV.

By 9pm I was exhausted. Kristian was teasing me about getting old, about being the weakest link. We had planned to go to a concert in the jazzhouse at 11pm but I was so ready for bed by 10.30pm so we headed home! Once on the train Kristian went out like a light! Now who was the weakest link. Secretly I think he wanted to get home but just wouldnt admit it! It was a great night out and something I would recommend for anyone living in Denmark!

Now I have a weeks holiday, just what I needed! So looking forward to a week of not having to get up at the crack of dawn!

Thanks for reading this far! I did warn you it would be long! Now I need to do a little every evening so it doesnt get this long again.

Time to blog again....

....time for an update. I have been so lazy regarding my blog, I need to get into the routine of updating it again.

So in my last blog post I said I hoped to get some painting done and I did! I painted two pictures. The results are below.....

Thursday 29th I had a trip to Ikea with my good friend Audry. I wasn´t going to buy anything, just our normal girly trip in to look around but I ended up coming home with a new shower curtain, new curtains for the bedroom and hall and new dinner plates. They had sooo many bargins and I LOVE a bargin!

Last weekend was our 23rd wedding anniversary. We had a lovely day. Laura our neighour surprised us with our own wee French cafĂ© right in the middle of our living room. She made us bacon and eggs with pancakes made in the shape of hearts. It was soooo lovely. We then spent the afternoon relaxing and then Kristian invited me out for dinner and a movie. It was a lovely day together.

Tuesday 3rd September Laura and I got a little spontaneous and went to the movies. We could get two tickets for the price of one. It was a great evening.

Yesterday it was Kristian´s birthday. He turned 47 years old!! I had a whole lot of things planned but Kristian came home Friday from his course with work feeling miserable. He was loaded with the cold, so he didn´t feel like going out anywhere. So we had a quiet day at home. He worked a little in the garden and I cleaned and organised the house. We thought of going out in the evening for a meal, but he wasn´t feeling up to it, so I went to our local chinese and got take away for us all and we spent a quiet Saturday evening on the sofa watching TV and loving every minute! We really are getting old!

40 years old....

Kristian´s old school had a 40th anniversary yesterday. He, his mum and all his brothers and sisters travelled back to the Island of Fyn to be at the celebrations.

Kristian´s dad started the school 40 years ago. He felt that God wanted him to start this Christian school. A school were you would be allowed to pray and teach about God, a school built on Christian values. What he started back then has grown and is still going strong today.

Above is what the school looked like when Johs started with just a handful of students.

Above is the school today.

They had a great evening together. Since Kristian was already half way over to Sara he decided he would go and visit her and spend the weekend. Her Christian is racing and so they will go to the track and watch him race. A perfect weekend for the both of them!!

Meanwhile I hope to get some painting done this weekend....:-) A perfect weekend for me! :-)

Night out...

....with me good chum, Laura.

This evening (Wednesday) Laura and I headed to the local cinema. I had gotten tickets for the film "Before Midnight"  I had seen the first two films "Before Sunrise" and "Before Sunset" (can´t remember the order!) and I enjoyed them soooo much so I was looking forward to this one.

It wasn´t how I expected it to be, but I wasn´t disappointed. I really enjoyed it. Laura did too. So all in all a good night out! Nice to do something different in the middle of the week!

Monday evening and there was drama on our road. We get a lot of bikers coming through our area. They are serious bikers with expensive bikes and gear. They ride at top speed and as one of the bikers passed our house a cat ran out and the biker hit him!!! Thankfully it wasn´t our Shadow but it was our neighbours cat, Charlie. A beautiful orange cat! The biker tried to brake but ended up going over the handle bars, he and his bike were not in good shape. The cat was also not looking so good. Some of our neighours got the man and his bike sorted out and took him home. The owners of the cat were also out trying to rescue the cat, who had crawled into hiding. Awful thing to happen and Andrew saw it all, as he was out chatting on the phone with Camilla. That conversation was cut short!!! There is never a dull moment out here!!

Not doing good......

.......at this blogging stuff.

Another week has gone by without a word from me!! It is just getting too easy for me to be lazy!

So a quick update....

Last week everyone started back again to work and school. Leah started a new school and was a bit nervous about it, but she had a great time last week getting to know her new teachers and class mates. There are only 2 other girls in her class but so far all 3 of them have hit it off.

She will be at this school for a year with a focus on drama and music.

Friday our neice Christine got baptised. She had been in the USA for a few months and while there had a real encounter with God, so she wanted to confirm her faith in Jesus through being baptised.

It was held in Kristian´s brother´s house, with his older brother baptising her.  It was a really special service and when it was finished the family spent the rest of the afternoon and evening together.

Love is still in the air between Andrew and Camilla. However Leah and her boyfriend are now over.

Sara and Christian arrived home for the weekend. They were going to the baptism too and then they spent the rest of the weekend with us. It was lovely seeing them again.

We mostly relaxed, went a walk down to the lake and went to check out the drive-in cinema close to us. It was also perfect weather for a BBQ.

Friday 9 August 2013

I´m back!!!!

I have been a bit quiet on the blog for the last week but now I am back again!!

I am also back at work. I started on Wednesday and it is actually good to be back again, although I must say, I am thankful that it´s the weekend again! It is hard getting back into the routine of getting up early and going to bed early too.

So the last week of my holidays went by fast....

We slept in a tent in the garden, something we have never been able to do before, when we lived in the apartment. Leah and Mia slept a few evenings in there then Laura and I also had our turn. It was so cosy. I couldn´t get Kristian out there though, after a week in a tent at Le Mann in France, he had had enough!

Hubby and I also had quite a few dates over the week, while Leah was at work!

We loved walking around the castle grounds! So beautiful, we actually went on a lot of evening walks throughout the week...

We also celebrated Andrew´s 20th birthday! I can´t believe he is 20!! (and still soooo in love!)

We celebrated by going on a picnic to a beautiful forest which also has an amusement park on the outskirts of it. They had a great day on the rides and I enjoyed sitting in the sun in the forest reading my books. We ended the evening by eating at one of Andrew´s favourite restaurants, The Mexican!

Monday 29 July 2013

Home again after a great week in Austria. The weather was fantastic and so was the scenery. We enjoyed the mountains and views. We have left a little piece of our heart in Austria.

I have been a little lazy with the blog while on holiday so here is an update....mainly for myself so I can look back in a year or two and read about what we did while in Austria......

So Tuesday we relaxed A LOT!! :-)

We drove to Zell am See but there were just too many people at the lake so we couldn´t get parked, so we just enjoyed the views from the car.

We decided to head back to Rauris to get ourselves an ice cream and play a little mini golf.
We had fun but it was just too hot so we cut the mini golf game short!

In the evening it was out to dinner to try another local restaurant. It was sooo cheap to eat out there! (At least compared to Denmark!)

Wednesday we decided to go away for the day, so we drove for about an hour northwards and went to see The Eagles Nest which was Hilters summer residence. What an amazing place!! To think that someone went to all the trouble to build such a place as a gift to Hilter just blows my mind!

The views were spectacular!

To get up to the residence you had to walk through a long tunnel and then up in an elevator. This was the evlvator. Kristian managed to get a bit of a picture of it......

It was a little weird to be in a place were you knew Hilter had spent some time. That such an evil man got to enjoy such beautiful nature and surroundings seemed so unfair. It also made me think of the power of one man. I wondered about how much good he could have done in the world if he had chosen differently. I did a lot of wondering as I wandered about on top of that mountain.

We ate lunch at the restaurant and then we headed down into Salzburg to enjoy the last part of the day there.

Thursday was another relaxing day. A short walk to town to visit some of the gifts shops made me very happy!. Kristian went a walk in the nature with his camera.

We also spent a lot of time playing Scrabble! My mother-in-law is sooo good at it. We had to play Danish words so it was good for building up my vocabulary. I learned 3 new Danish words!

Friday I decided I wanted to spend at home just reading and relaxing. Kristian and his mum fancied going a short drive to the end of the valley to explore the nature down there. The kids wanted to stay at home with me and relax. It was a lovely day.

Friday evening we were out eating again! It was after all, our last evening so we wanted to live it up! After a delicious meal it was home to pack and get ready for the long journey home.

We left Saturday morning at 10am. The weather was a little too hot, most of the day it was 38 degrees as we drove up through Germany. We were thankful for our air con! It was on full blast the whole day. Kristian did a great job driving us home. We arrived home at 4am in the morning at my mother-in-laws house. By this stage we all were so tired so we camped down at Kristian´s mum´s house to sleep for a few hours. After a few hours sleep and a bite to eat, we were on the road home to ourselves.

It was lovely to come home again. Lovely to see Shadow and off course our neighbour!  Out is good but home is best!
