What do you get....

...if you put an irish woman and a horse together? The answer is below!!

So today we were away on our yearly family daytrip with Kristians family. We had a brilliant day! This year we decided to help out at the farm. (Kristians brothers farm.)Everyone in the family gets some sort of joy from that place, so we decided to spend the day helping to clear out the barns and cow shed. So even though we worked, it didn´t feel like work, we had soooo much fun and as you can see, there was also time for horse riding - a sport I will NOT be taking up!!!

It was great catching up with the family. We had time to chat, laugh and just be cosy together. The weather was fantastic and the farm is in such a beautiful place. I think a wonderful day was had by all.

Kristian is a happy man!!

and it´s not because he is married to me!! NO, he is happy because finally he is living his dream.

Kristian is driving go-karts! (Will men ever grow up??!)

Sara is taking a year off from the racing. It´s not something that she is very happy about, but she has a lot of school work, which takes a lot of her time. Then there´s the time and money she spends going back and forward to Belgium. So now it´s Kristian big chance!! He has got the opportunity to use Saras old cart to race!! Well do I have a happy man?!! - that is to say the least!!

On Wednesday he raced his first race. It was at the Copenhagen Go-kart track and he came in third. A bronze medal is now proudly hanging in his wee "cupboard".

My man in action! Cart number 73!

Look at the joy on their faces! hahaha

Must say, he did do well. This was his first race and the other drivers have been racing for years out at the track They were actually teasing Kristian about his new driving suit. His was clean and shiny white, while everyone elses suits were covered in oil and dirt. haha

Well I am sure this is just the first of many races that I will hear about and you in turn will also hear about!

Leahs bike....

is gone!!! It was stolen from our door sometime during the night!!! It was locked, she has a lock that when its open the key stays in it, and when its locked the key comes out...and she has both her keys, so we know that she didnt forget to lock it. She was sooo sad when she discovered it was gone.

Saras bike also got stolen. She got a beautiful bike for Christmas....it was a bike that costs around £500 from new. We got it for £20 through Kristians work. He works for an insurance company, so when the police find stolen things it gets sent to the insurance company. The insurance company have already paid out the insurance money to their customer, so the found items are legally theirs so what they do is hold a sale for their employee´s. There is about 1400 people who work there so you put your name on the item that you want, then a draw is made and if your name is picked you get to buy the object.

Well just before Christmas Kristian saw this beautiful bike and knew it was an exspensive make. He put his name down for it and won. He was able to buy it for £20. Sara needed a bike and so that was a surprise for her for Christmas....well Sara had the bike for 14 days before it was stolen from the train station, like Leahs it had the same lock and Sara had her keys which proves she had locked it.

Leahs bike should be covered by the insurance, we have all the papers etc. Saras unfortunately was not covered as we had nothing on her bike.

Not so long ago the Danish TV put a tracking device on a popular bike and filmed how people stole it. It was amazing to see how organised it was. They put the bike into a van, took it to a workshop and got the lock taken off, put on a new lock and then put it in the second hand newspaper for sale. The lies the woman and man told was wild, they denied everything until the TV people showed them all the evidence that they had against them.

So thats our news for today..... Looks like the next few weeks will be spent out looking for bargins. Let the bike hunt begin¨!!!!

We caught it on camera....

For once I had the camera around when Leah and Shadow were playing, what we call, hide and seek together.

Our wee cat loves to play it with us all, so it not uncommon to find Kristian or me down on all fours, crawling around the living room floor like eejits (a northern ireland saying, meaning idiots.) The night I caught on camera it was Leah who was the eejit!!! haha

I had been telling dad about this when we were home, so dad here comes the video so you can see what I mean.....(all u others are also welcome to take a look too;-)

A visitor....

Leah has had her cousin Annie staying the night. The two girls have had a great time together. Then this evening we had a visit from our eldest neice - Gitte. (She is Annies big sister and has recently passed her test, so she was the taxi driver sent to collect Annie.)

Gitte came to dinner. Kristian was at a go-kart race and Sara was visiting Winnie, so it was lovely to have Gitte here for company. We had a great chat and I got brought up to date with everything that has been going on in her life. (Maybe here I should start singing "Love is in the air!!" haha )

We spent a lovely evening out on the balacony. The weather has been fantastic today!

Then Kristian arrived home and joined us. We sat out there till it started to get dark and the mist rolled in over the fields. Gitte then left us for the long journey home, taking Annie along with her. Thanks for a lovely evening Gitte!

My haven of rest....

so I have spent a little time this week working on the balcony. Everytime I was out food shopping I some how manged to pick up a cheap plant for the balcony. I moved an extra chair we had out there, and the stool from my old desk is being used as a wee table until I can find something better that I like.

I am pleased with the result. It is now really relaxing to sit out there. The big question is...."Can I keep the plants alive?!!!" How long with they survive? Who knows!!! I am usually hopeless at watering them, but this time I am determined that they will live longer than a month!!

Been there again....

Where?? Ikea off course!!!

Leah was wanting to freshen up her room a little. So off we went on Saturday to Ikea to see what we could pick up for a budget of £20. Below is the results....(we´ll we spent a little more than £20 - but just a few pounds more, so we did well!) She decided she wanted the room red and white - a true Dane!! haha

We had fun doing it and it didnt take long to hang new curtains, put a few stickers on the wall and a few pillows on the bed...nice and easy and yet a bit of a change!!

Oh, by the way I was encouraged to seek a job in Ikea by the woman who looks after the hiring of personnel for the different Ikeas in Denmark. We were sitting over from each other at our nieces confirmation. She was a lovely person and when I heard she worked in Ikea I was bumming about the place (I didnt realise what she did there!! haha) We had a good old chat and later in the day she asked if I ever considered looking for a job there cause they were always looking for people who had a passion for it!!! So you never know, I might end up in there yet!!

Safe and sound...

yes, we are back safe and sound. Everything went according to plan and at 3.15pm we landed on Danish soil again. It was great to see Leah and Kristian again (Sara is in Belgium).

Most of this evening has been spent chatching up with each others week. After dinner we decided to watch the film Avatar. I had bought Leah and Kristian the film as a wee present form Ireland. They just love that film! They wanted me to see it so we settled down to watch it. Its not really my type of film but I must say just over the half way point I started to get into it. Having said that, it is not a film I will watch again.

So while we were gone Leah and Kristian have had a really cosy week together. It has just been the two of them at home. On Thursday Leah decided she was going to clean up her room and she did it with passion (says Kristian). Everything was taken out!!! and everywhere was hoovered and dusted. Drawers and cupboards were organised. She did a really good job! This in turn got Kristian in the mood to clean too, so when I came home today the whole apartment looked great!

Everything was moved out into the kitchen.

Then today on the way to the airport they called into one of the big shopping centres and got a Kentucky Fried chicken. Its not often they get to eat those so they took lots of photos so that they could make Andrew and me jealous! hahaha

...and it sort of worked!!! Andrew rang them when we got of the plane to tell them we were landed. They said they were on their way, they had just been to get KFC. By this stage we were starving, so we looked at each other and sighed, with mouths watering!!! We really could have ate a KFC at that point!! hahaha
It has been a really great week. It was soooo good to see dad again. (Thanks for putting up with us this week dad!! We had a really great time with you....now get some more painting done and make a blog!! )

The last day

Yes, its unbelievable that 4 days have gone by!!! They have gone soooo fast, and I have enjoyed every minute of it. It has been wonderful to be back in Belfast. I have sooo enjyoyed the friendliness of the people. I have enjoyed chatting to the chasiers in Primark and Tescos (the only two shops I have been in!! haha), and even to hear people say "excuse me" when they need to get round you in a shop, has been so wonderful. I have really cherished all these small things.

Today I had a few hours for me. I took off around 11am for Primark. This time I could look for stuff for me. I tried on soooo many things (not everything I tried on fit!!) but I got a few bits and pieces that I desperately needed. Three hours later I was heading home again. I cant believe I spent so much time in there!!! I know the kids normally do, but I never thought that I could. I didnt get to any other shops - no point I was broke after Primark!! hahaha

So tomorrow morning at 7am we head to Dublin! I have so many mixed feelings. I miss Kristian and the girls and am soooo looking forward to seeing them again, but a big part of my heart wants to stay here in Belfast! Roll on July - I hopefully will be back for a quick visit again:-)

All clean and tidy

...just the way I like it:-)

I spent most of today cleaning and organising. It felt good to get things cleared out. I got under the stairs all organised, the wardrobes cleared and lots of dads papers organised too. Then I cleaned the place from top to bottom. (now I just need to shine my halo!!haha)
Late afternoon we went down to eat dinner with my sister-in-law. Great to see her and the kids again.

Its been another lovely day:-)

Guess where we have been???

Yes to Subway!! (are you jealous Sara? Leah? Kristian??) hahaha

Today has been the opposite to yesterday. Yesterday was quiet, today was all go. We got a lie in, then it was off to town. I had promised Andrew an afternoon in Primark - so off we went. There was time for a bite to eat at Subway.Delicious!! It was a wonderful lunch - one I really enjoyed.

Around 2pm we arrived in Primark. Now I thought that within 45 minutes Andrew would be out of there. HOW WRONG I WAS! He went wild!!! 3 hours later and he was finished!!! All his energy used and all his money gone.

Last time we were home Andrew couldnt fit any of the things from Primark and so he actually went home with no clothes, this time was different. He got new trousers and shirts (something he really needed!) The set he has on above cost...wait for it....£15!!! for everything!!! The trousers were set down from £15 to £3!!! Shoes £2, Shirt £8 and t-shirt £2. A happy boy I had!

He also needed a new jacket. This he got for £12!!

Cool dude or what. This set cost him £9 for everything!!! I LOVE PRIMARK!!! or maybe I should say MY KIDS LOVE PRIMARK!!! I never get a chance to look at any of my clothes!!!
Today at 5pm Andrew was finished and was more than willing to go and look at my clothes with me, problem was I was finsihed too - I had no more energy!!
Anyway it was worth it all just to see the smile on his face.

One day down....

It's been a quiet day. Just what we all needed. There was time for a bit of a lie in, then it was up to sort out a few things around the house. Later in the afternoon we went over to see my brother. He had done a bit of washing for dad and it was all ready for collection!!

After a snack and a chat it was home again. This evening has been spent relaxing. Andrew was in the mood to see some of grandas films.
Ages ago dad bought himself a paint set. He never got around to using it but that all changed this evening. We spent a lovely cosy evening painting.

Dad really got into it, and was all pleased with the final result. I thought he did really well. Now he's tried it he wants to try it again. (yet another wee hobby to keep him amused!)

Monday 10 May 2010

I'm back!!!!!

.....back to blogging and back in Belfast!!!

It's been a crazy since my last post! So many things to do and not enough time to do it. It was mainly church work, teaching material and ideas that needed to be ready. I think I set my goals a little too high - creative things take soooo much time to get ready, and I had this crazy creative idea that took hours and hours to get ready. Anyway I made it!! and I did have a bit of time for fun in between it all.

Friday was my birthday - 41!!!!! (one year closer to the big 50!!! depressing or what!! haha) I got a new bench for my balcony. I was soooo happy. For a few months now I have been wanting to buy a bench for out there. I want to buy lots of plants and turn it into a wee haven of rest. Well Kristian started that process for me on Friday. He took the day off work.(without me knowing!) Andrew was off school and so the two of them got the old picnic bench out, cleared up all the bits and pieces that we had stuck out there and then assembled the bench.

When I came home from work the house was clean and tidy (to my surprise)and then I got to see my new balcony(also a surprise). I was sooo pleased. Now I cant wait to buy more bits and pieces for out there so it can be really cosy:-) Thanks Kristian:-) and thanks to everyone else who sent me cards, presents, and greetings on my facebook wall.

Saturday we were off to a family party. Our niece was getting confirmed, so we were in church 10.30am on a Saturday morning. It was a really good service. They belong to one of the evangelical state churches and it shows. The ministers talk was sooo good.

Rebecca, our niece, loves to go on camps so she wanted her confirmation to be like that...so after the church service we all went off to camp (but not in tents!!)

We had a wonderful afternoon of food and fun with games, funny songs, and speeches. In the evening we had about 45 minutes of worship and praise, it was soooo lovely. Kristian, Andrew and I went home to sleep, as we were leaving early in the morning for the airport. However the rest of the family and friends were staying at the campsite. It was fun to see Sara, and all her big cousins become children again. They ran around the campsite with the small kids, playing hid and seek. They had a blast!

Home really late Saturday evening...it was hard to get up Sunday morning when the alarm rang! But we had a plane to catch. We left home at 7.30am and flew from Copenhagen to Stansted. Our next flight was at 3.30pm to Belfast. Home sweet home!!

In between flights there was time to eat a Burger King! I had a happy Andrew! We were worried that the flight would be closed due to the ashe, but 2 hours before take off check in opened. Everything looked good. About 1 hour before take off the gate number came up - yes it was looking good. But it wasnt to last for long!!!

Once at the gate things started to go wrong. The flight was delayed to 4.20pm, then 5.30pm, then 6.25pm, then 7.10pm. No one heard a word from Easyjet as to why or what was happening. Finally at about 7pm a man came and explained that our flight had not left belfast, but he wasnt sure why etc etc.. He really wasnt much help.

Even though it was a long afternoon/evening, it was fab just sitting there at the gate. Most of the people were from Northern Ireland, so it wasnt quiet!! Everyone was talking away to each other. It was wonderful! I loved every minute. Andrew sat smiling at me, he was enjoying it too...."All this talking to each other is something I have to get used too" he said, "but I like it"

Finally at around 8pm they started to board the plane...then when seated we were told we would have another 50 minute wait in the plane!!!!! but it wasnt that long!

Finally at 9.45pm we landed in Belfast! I was just sooo happy to be back. Waiting on the bus to take us to Belfast a taxi man came over and asked if anyone wanted a taxi to Belfast for the same price as the bus. Andrew and I jumped at the chance along with a lady from Germany. At 11pm last night I was finally able to give my dad a big hug. Its lovely to see him again. He has not been well so I am so happy to be home with him now.

I only have 4 days here. We leave early on Friday morning. This time for Dublin. So this time I havent arranged to meet up with anyone. (Sorry)I would love to but I just cant fit it in this time. I am hoping to come back in the summer. Next time for a week or two so hopefully then we can get together for some fun. (phew this was a long post! sorry it turned into a novel instead of a quick post:-)
