Christines homecoming

Our niece has been in the USA for a whole year but today she came home. Those of the family that could, arranged to meet at Kristian´s mum and dad´s so we could drive out to the airport all together, to welcome her home.

Kristian and Sara are in Jytlland, so we didn´t have the car. Andrew, Leah and me took the bus and train into Kristian´s mum and dads. There we met the rest of the family and had some lunch before driving out to the airport.
I drove with Kristian´s sister Signe. Signe loves to sing, and on top of that, she CAN sing - and she does it beautifully !! She is also a bit crazy - which suits me fine!! So Signe came up with an idea that we should sing a song to our niece when we saw her come out of arrivals. We decided it should be "O Happy day" and we would add a few of our own words - much to the embrassement of some in the family!!(my kids for example!!) But Signe, Gitte (my other niece) and me had fun with it.

We then all drove home to Hanne and Flemmings (Kristians sister) for strawberries, ice cream and cake!! We spent a few hours together before we all headed home. Really good afternoon. Welcome home Christine - good to see you again!

Pirates in church!!

It was "Creative Service" today in church. We really weren´t sure what to expect....and we sure weren´t disappointed!

The whole front of the church was changed into a island with real sand, plants and off course - treasure!! After some praise songs at the start, the ministers wife introduced us to the theme of the service....Pirates of the Caribbean.

The music started (very dramatic music) and the drama began.....Captain Jack Sparrow, and Will Turner were sailing the rough seas when they saw the island .....the one with the treasure. Captain Sparrow had been looking for this treasure all his life and when he finally found it, together with Will, he wanted to keep the treasure all for himself. He planned to sail away in the night with the treasure, leaving Will sleeping on the Island. The treasure had become the most important thing in Captain Sparrows life.

Well to cut a long story short....the truth behind the drama was the verses in Matthew 6, 19 -21...."for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." After a few more praise songs our minister spoke from these verses challenging us to see what it is we treasure in life....is Jesus our treasure, do we seek Him and His will over everything else. Are we storing up treasures in heaven. How can we do that?

It was very challenging and practical and he used good illustrations for both adults and children - all could understand and get something out of his message. We ended the service with some songs about giving ourselves to God, seeking Him first.

When the service was finished the teenagers, dressed up as pirates, came round and served fruit to everyone.

We have soooo many talented people in our church and when they do a special service like this they give themselves 100% and pull out all the stops.

Busy, Busy, Busy

It´s been a busy few days!!

Wednesday I was out with my crazy colleagues. Lene invited us home to her house for dinner. We had a really fun evening - it´s always fun with these guys....never a dull moment, believe me!!

Like take today, I came out to my car to find that they had wrapped toilet paper around it. (Now who could have done a thing like that - Peter- my boss or Thomas? probably them both!!)
Many times I find strange objects or toilet papers, hidden in my bag, that is, if I can find my bag! They tell me stories that I usually believe, until they start laughing at me, then I realise that it´s just a joke!! (it´s just because I trust them all so completely....well I´m learning!!)

Here are the crazy people (below) having a coffee break. (it is a really terrible picture of them, they look a little better in real life!!haha)

Below is Thomas - I was put in his life to teach him patiences.....long suffering.....kindness.....goodness and the list could go on!
Thomas is a perfectionist when it comes to the Danish language. That I sometimes get the grammar wrong ...(well,it´s probably a lot of the time that I get the grammar wrong, ) just drives him crazy!!! hehe (what do you expect man - I can hardly get the english grammar right never mind the Danish!!)
I can really get him going when I make up my own danish words because I think they sound better than the actual words that I should be using..... (Thomas below - another terrible picture!!)

After work today I drove to a town about 30 minutes away were CEF were holding a tent meeting for kids. Kristian and I were involved in this tent meeting many years ago. Then my friend Rhona got involved. We would go up together and stay in a caravan for the week with our kids, and hold meetings for the kids in the area.

I was up today to help them out. We spend the afternoon drawing with the kids, playing games with them, talking to them about God, and just showing them some love.
Then in the evening we held a tent meeting. Throughout the week there were about 35 kids each evening at the meeting. Tonight there was only about 12, however those 12 listened really well.

I felt really old when I met a girl who had come to the tent meetings about 15 years ago when Kristian and I lead them, she was now 25 and sat through the meeting tonight.

I am now shattered!! Am going to head off to bed. I have been on the go from 6.00am. and it´s now 10.30pm . Soooo glad tomorrow is Friday!!

Kristians got a plan

I am not the only crazy person in this household. Kristian has thought up a plan to change our office into a racing car - let me explain...

Every Monday evening you will find my husband sitting in front of his computer ready to race with a group of guys over the internet. They take their racing very seriously. (As you can see from the photo above!!) His racing set up in our wee office is not optimal, so this is were his plan comes in.

He got given a racing car chair which gives him the feeling of sitting in a real racing car - well, almost. (yeah - I know, I thought I was bad with all my day dreams...but this sort of tops the lot!!) Anyway he now wants to take the desk out, hang the computer screen were the headphone are now - see them in the photo above. Turn the chair so it fits in under the shelves and faces the computer screen (it would be were the desk is now) and build up a fantastic sound system around it.....who knows he might even build a car door that he has to open so he can get into the seat!!!

If it makes him happy, I really don´t mind...we never use the desk anymore, (I have my own wee desk in the living room were I love to sit and write, or type, or read...) And after all I did get my bedroom, which I still love soooooo much!! Boys will be boys - so all I can say is, go for it honey....

While my husband was thinking up this crazy idea I was home visiting my friend Rhona. (Maybe I shouldn´t leave him alone anymore!!)
Rhona is one of my really good friends. She was born in Northern Ireland (her mum is from Lisburn and her dad from England.) We have been friends for many years and our kids have grown up together. We have shared many good times together - she is very special!! (and I mean that in a good way - not in a weird way!! haha) She is a really special friend to me.

After work today I decided to pop over to say hello. (This is one house in Denmark were I can just pop by. It is so nice, I don´t feel that I need to ring to see if it´s ok.) We sat out in her garden and talked and talked.
She is the best cook (speciality is chinese food - it is to die for!!) and her baking - heavenly!! I got a slice of one of her cakes today. Ummmh - delicious! It was a lovely afternoon sitting in the sun enjoying her company, and her cake! What more could a girl ask for!! Thanks Rho for a really good afternoon - I´ll pop by again soon!

What a great day...

Yes, it certainly has been a great day. It started early for me...7.30am when Leah and Andrew had to get up for school. Then it was a mad half hour getting breakfast, making lunches and getting them out the door.

Kristian came to life around 9.30am and we had a relaxing morning, sitting talking and having breakfast with Sara and Winnie. Around 11.00am we were ready to head out into the world. (Sara and Winnie headed into the go-cart track) . Kristian and I decided that we would go shopping instead of going to the beach. We are going to Krisitans cousins 40th birthday on Sunday afternoon, so we thought we would go shopping for his present. We had a great time walking around town. We got what we needed, but I won´t say what, just in case Jacob´s reading this!!

We bought a couple of sandwiches for lunch and went down by the lake to eat. The weather was brilliant - the food delicious and the company just perfect!!

Came home and got ready to visit our friends, Jette and Filip. We were going over to BBQ. We always have a great time with them. Tonight was no exception!! We ate, and talked and laughed. Then we headed down to the lake, near their home. They have a canoe and we decided to go sailing. I must admit, this is NOT my favourite pass time. I do not really enjoy boats...and I dont know why. I can swim, I love to swim, but I just dont like canoe´s or boats.

I was very happy standing on the land, enjoying the landscape, the sunset and the tranquility...but my daughter, husband and so called friends, just wouldnt leave me alone, I just had to experience life out on the water......and stupid as I am, I listened to them and let them convince me. Well just take a look at the result. I was scared stiff!! Must admit that we had a good laugh, even if it was at my exspense. (I will NEVER do that again!!)

I really am scared stiff - see my body and legs!! hahaCheck out a small video clip:

We ended the evening with an ice-cream before going back to Jette and Filips for coffee. Thanks Jette and Filip for a great evening and for being the great friends you are!!

Another good weekend

It´s been a busy but good weekend. Friday night was spent with my friend Anne. We had a girls night out. I met Anne when I started to work in the christian school. We hit it off right away. But Anne left the school shortly after I arrived:-( (not because of me!!! - She decided to become a full time foster parent.) So, even though I had only worked with her for 2 months, I felt like I had known her all my life.

We then started to go to the same church. Anne has two boys who are 17 and 19 and Andrew has really hit it off with them. We as a family get together from time to time for a games night. We spend the night playing games on the play station and we always have a great time together. Lots and lots of laughter.

Well Friday night was just for us girls. We went to my favourite restaurant "The Mexican" and we stuffed our faces with delicious mexican food. The night flew by as we chatted and laughed. We had thought about going to see a film but we talked so much that we lost track of time. Walking through town heading home I was sure we were going to get arrested for distrubing the peace. We laughed soooo much that we ended up crying. I am sure other people thought we were drunk...but all we had was iced water!!! So, after the laughing fit, we found ourselves a cosy wee coffee shop and spent the last part of the evening drinking hot chocolate with lots of whipped cream!!!

Thanks Anne for a really fun night. Must do it again sometime soon!!

Here we are at one of our famous "Family Fun nights" singing against each other.

Saturday was a busy day for Kristian. He had double booked himself all weekend. First of all it was Sara´s race weekend, so early Saturday morning he was up to drive Sara and her go-cart down to the south of Denmark. (She had a friend who could be her mechanic, so Kristian wasn´t needed.) Then he drove home again as we had been invited to his ex-bosses house for a day together with his ex- team leader colleagues. Wives and kids were invited too. We only had Leah with us as Sara was away and Andrew went to his friends. (There were no other teenagers, only kids around Leah´s age, so that suited fine.)

We arrived for afternoon coffee and had a lovely day at their house. We played games in the garden, went a walk to the beach (they live 3 minute walk away from that). Most of the kids went in for a swim. Errrr - just a bit too cold for my liking!! We barbequed together and had a great time just sitting talking and catching up. We finially headed home around 11.00pm .

Then my poor husband was driving down to the south of Denmark again were he would sleep at his sisters house. He, Signe (his sister) and her choir were giving a concert in a church near were Signe lives. After the concert he would drive down to the go-cart track and get Sara and then finially head home. Whew!! What a weekend for him!!
