Congratulations.....

....to Leah. She got herself a job!

She starts this weekend. It is just a summer job but it is in a place that she loves....Paradis Is (Paradise Ice Cream shop!) She will be serving ice cream to hopefully a lot of customers over the next few months. She goes tomorrow evening for some training and then starts on Saturday. 

Talking about Saturday.....the weather over here is to change this weekend! Whoopee!!! About time too. Apparently it is to be about 10 degrees on Saturday and then got up to 15 degrees on Sunday. I am soooo ready for some sunshine! Even though I love Autumn and Winter, I am ready for a bit of sun! This year I am looking forward to trying my hand at a bit of gardening so that is what I have on the agenda for the weekend. I hope to get out and organize a bit of the outside and who knows, we might even have ourselves a BBQ! 

Today I started back to work again after all the sickness. I still cough a lot but have not had a sore throat since Monday and the sore ears cleared up on Sunday.  However this afternoon and evening my throat started to get sore again. It is sore down the left hand side even now as I type, so I think I will make myself a hot cuppa tea and head into bed very soon. 

Big mistake.....

.....I went back to work on Thursday. I thought I was ready but I wasn´t.

As the day went by, I felt worse and worse. Finally by the time I got home I had fever again, my throat and ears were killing me and all I wanted to do was go to bed. I was meant to be going out to meet my friend Jette for a hot chocolate, but that had to be cancelled.

So Friday morning I was off work again and spent the morning in bed. Then at 11.30am I headed up to the doctors just to get the nurse to check my throat to see if I needed penicillin. Unfortunately the test showed it wasn´t a bacteria but a virus so no penicillin for me, just rest and hot drinks 

I also had to go to the hospital on Friday to have the blood pressure in my legs tested. The doctor there said they seemed fine. On one leg the pressure was a little down but nothing that you would do anything about. She seemed to think I should see a doctor about my veins and just get out and exercise so my muscles could get stronger.

 I agree. I want to exercise, I need to exercise but when your legs feel like lumps of lead have been put in them, they ache and you have pain in them, well you cant think of going out to run for ½ hour. 

These last many days I have been lying in bed constantly and my legs do not hurt at all! I could easily run for ½ hour or dance Zumba or Aerobics, so maybe I need to find another job where I am not on my feet all day long. Only problem there is, that I love my job and I am totally not interested in finding something else.

Anyway, back to this weekend. All weekend I have been in bed or on the sofa. My throat has been absolutely killing me, my ears too. However this morning I can feel a difference. My ears are not sore...my throat is still sore, but a lot better, it´s bearable and my cough has loosened so now I am coughing up green slim! (Lovely - I know you´re glad I shared that with you!) But it is sooo great to get rid of it all and to feel alot better, although my lungs are sore from all the coughing.  

I usually don´t get sick and when I do it is usually just for a couple of days, so this has been a real challenge for me. I have been so annoyed that I have had to stay in bed. It just seems like I am wasting so much time lying around doing nothing!

So today is another "take it easy day". I don´t think work will be seeing me tomorrow, but I hope that by Tuesday I am all better and ready to live life again.

On the mend...

...the last few days I have spent mostly in bed. I was meant to start work again on Tuesday but was just feeling too horrible to go in. My throat has been soooo sore, my head heavy and blocked, fever on and off and I have been coughing constantly! 

Now at 2pm in the afternoon I have been awake for about ½ hour. I can feel a difference. My head is clear. My throat is still sore but not as bad as it has been and I have no fever! I am on the mend!!

Hopefully I will get to work again tomorrow! Not much fun being at home when all you do is sleep or cough! 

April Fool......

APRIL FOOL....

I am NOT pregnant!!! It was only an april fool....please forgive me for my sick sense of humour!!  (especially my wonderful mother-in-law who was in a bit of a panic for a part of the afternoon. Thank you for all ur sweet texts and messages on facebook. You made us laugh and feel bad at the same time for tricking you with such an awful joke:-) We LOVE YOU!)

Surprise, surprise.....

or should I say SHOCK - HUGE SHOCK!!!

I haven´t been feeling the best the last few weeks, Emotionally I have been all over the place. I have been really exhausted and I have had a lot of days of feeling nausea. I thought I had a virus or bug of some sort....and I suppose you could say I have caught something, it is just not a virus or a bug. More like a baby! Yes I am pregnant again!! I dont know whether to laugh or cry.

The thought of having a baby in the house again fills me with all sorts of emotions. I love small kids but the thought of starting over again at my age is a little over whelming! Kristian and I are just starting to enjoy our freedom (and maybe we enjoyed it a bit too much! haha)

I am about 8 weeks along, so around about 6th November there should be another little Rasmussen in our household. Oh boy what a shock!!

Happy Easter.....

It has been a strange sort of Easter for us. We have all been feeling sick. 

It started with Andrew last weekend. He has had it really bad lying all week with fever, an awful cough and a bad cold.

Kristian got sick on Wednesday afternoon with a fever and went to bed when he got back from leaving Sara and Christian off at the airport. He stayed there all Thursday and thought he was feeling better on Friday. However on Friday evening he was feeling rotten again so it was off to bed. He spent the most of Saturday in bed and most of today too. He really does look awful. He is loaded with the cold.

Leah too is loaded with the cold. She started to feel rotten yesterday. Her head is sore, her nose stuffed and she coughs and sneezes constantly.

 I had a bit of a sore throat at the start of the week but it disappeared again. Then on Friday evening I started to feel rotten and discovered that I had a fever,  so off I went to bed with my onions! REALLY - onions in my socks and a half of an onion lying by my pillow. (Onions are meant to fight bacteria....they take the bacteria out of the air and your body.) 

It seemed to do the job for I was feeling fine again on Saturday morning. However Saturday evening going to bed I started to feel rotten again. I had fever once again and my throat was starting to get sore. So today we all stayed in bed till the early afternoon. Not how I like to spend Easter Sunday. I missed getting to church to celebrate that Jesus is risen.

Andrew now seems to be on the mend. Leah is still loaded.

 I keep peeing myself because of all the coughing that I am doing!! haha My fever seems to have gone but my throat is still sore and my head too. 

Kristian was up a bit this afternoon but had to go back to bed. He still looks awful and is not dealing with being sick very well! (He is a man after all!! haha)

There are a lot of germs in the Rasmussen household! I hope they all disappear soon!!

So yesterday it was my neighbour, Laura´s birthday. Late Friday evening I went over to her place (and I was feeling so rotten but was determined to do this!) and hung my huge "Happy Birthday" knickers in her kitchen window along with other Happy Birthday streamers, so when she got up on Saturday morning her kitchen window was full of wonderful birthday greetings.

When we woke on Saturday morning we went over to wish her a Happy Birthday and gave her a few wee presents we had bought.  We didnt stay long, Kristian was dying to get back to bed as he wasnt feeling the best. She and Mia would be over later in the evening for dinner.

She thought it was just leftovers that we were having but I had planned a 3 course meal.

 The table was all set for the birthday girl......

 We had prawn salad for starters....Bahmia for main course.....and chocolate cake for dessert.

 In between the main course and dessert there was a special song for Laura especially written by me. We had a laugh! Then came the birthday cake all complete with candles! It even tasted good! :-)

 The rest of the evening we spent just relaxing in front of the TV watching Naria film.  We had a great evening with her.
