We did it.....

Yesterday morning we set out on a mission - to find Andrew´s birthday present. Well, we accomplished what we set out to do. We found his present in the first shop we went into, and it was at a great price!!! Needless to say we were very, very happy.

After getting his present we went to a few furniture shops just to see if there were any good bargins. We want to get a new dining room table. We have been saving up for one for a while. We have been looking around for about 3 months but have never found something that we liked in our price range - that was until yesterday!

The dining room table we have at the minute is just a bit too narrow. There is not much room on the table to serve food. In Denmark the food is put on the table and people serve themselves so when we have guests and I have a few dishes to serve, it is always a squeeze to get everything on the table.

Well the table we saw yesterday was a whole 22 cm wider than the one we have. It was also recycled wood which is what we wanted - something a bit rustic looking. We didn´t buy it though, we wanted time to think about it, to make sure it was the one we wanted.  It was actually going at a great price, there was 55% discount!! So I think we need to make our minds up very soon!

We would like to get the table with the black chairs so it breaks up from all the brown/wooden look.

I liked the chairs above, I thought they were very American country house style but Kristian liked the ones below. We asked the kids what they thought and they also liked the ones above, the same ones as me!!
After our day out shopping we came home and relaxed. Leah and Andrew were out so Kristian and I ate dinner in the living room while watching TV.

Today I woke with the urge to clean and organise - so that´s what I did. In the afternoon we had some unexpected visitors. Our friend Henrik came by with his son Michael. They were out for a ride on their motorbikes.

Just before they went home again, Henrik asked if I wanted to go a ride on the bike with Michael his son. I said I would give it a go - OH MY GOODNESS!!! It was wild!! I was scared silly at times,  yet it was  exhilarating too!! It was fun to try but a motorbike will not be on my Christmas wish list!!

Andrew had a go too and now he is hooked. He wants a motorbike!! OH NO!!!! lets hope he never can afford one!

Below is a video clip of todays action - Me on a Motorbike....

Michael was such a good driver. I felt safe with him and he did keep the speed limit. As soon as we went over 40km  though,I was freaking out!!  haha The poor guy, what he had to put up with!

This evening Sara and Christian arrived. They will be staying the weekend here. It is Copenhagen Historic Grand Prix and my Kristian is a photographer in at the race. Sara and Christian are just going to see it. That means we have tomorrow with them, we hope to get a trip into Copenhagen, but lets see what tomorrow brings!

Friends.....

It´s always good to hang out with friends and we were planning on doing that Monday evening. Before that, we had a few jobs to do around the house, mainly in the garden. The hedge and grass needed cut, the flower bed needed weeded and the garage needed a clear out. We had a productive day just doing things at our own tempo.

Monday late afternoon we got ready to go and visit our friends - Birthe and Henrik. They had invited us for dinner so we were looking forward to getting some good food. We were not disappointed. We were able to sit outside in their garden and enjoy dinner. They had a heater and blankets that helped us keep warm.

We had such a lovely evening with them. We got caught up on each others lives. At one stage us girls went in to see a girly film while the boys sat outside discussing whatever it was they were discussing. When it got too cold the boys came in and joined us. The film was finished and we spent the rest of the evening discussing all sorts of subjects - at times getting rather deep - it was just great. Before we knew it the time was 2am!!!

Birthe and Henrik´s cat had kittens so once again we were sooo tempted to reserve a kitten!! But we didn´t!!

It really was such a lovely evening with them. Time sure flies when you are with people you enjoy being with!

Tuesday morning and I was up early even though I had first gotten to bed around 2.45am!! I was going to Ikea with my friend Jette and her two kids. The rain was pouring down so it was a perfect day to go shopping.

I was looking for a new shelf for my kitchen. I am thinking of taking down my wipeboard and putting something like this in its place. Can´t make up my mind which one I like best, so I didn´t buy anything just took some pictures so I could test the pictures on the kitchen wall and see what I think. Still have no idea which one I like best!

Jette was looking for curtains but didn´t find any she liked, instead she found a whole lot of other wonderful bits and pieces!

We had such a great day in there. The kids were fantastic, just waiting for their mum and me to finish our shopping without any complaining or whining. We treated ourselves to lunch before we headed home.  The day really couldn´t have been better - to get to go one of my favourite places with my friend Jette was pretty much a perfect day! Jette is such a great person to hang out with. She always puts you in a good mood and yesterday was no different!

Last night Kristian and I just lay on the sofa relaxing. We watched TV while the wind blew and the rain poured down! I am loving this weather!!

Today we are on a mission! Next week is Andrew´s birthday so we need to find him a present, that is the goal of the day. Kristian and I are going shopping and I am sooo in the mood for that. It´s another cloudy day, perfect for shopping. Hopefully we will find a few bargins!

Home again.....

...after a great week away in Corfu.

We left last Friday evening for a weeks holiday in Kalami Bay in Corfu. We had a fantastic week together - Kristian, Andrew, Leah and me. We arrived at 4am in the morning and collected our  hired  car. We decided we would drive to our hotel, even though we knew we could first check in at 2pm that afternoon,  at least we would know where it was.

When we arrived at the hotel we happened to bump into the receptionist just as we parked the car. We told him we were just checking out the place as we were booked for a weeks holiday but we knew we could first check in at 2pm.

He was sooo helpful. He said to wait while he checked out what room we had, he then came back and said that the people in our room were leaving at 7am so he would get the cleaning staff in right away and we could have the room by 8.30am!! I was amazed. What great service. The time was about 5am so we still had some time to wait, we went down to the beach and tried to sleep. We didn´t get much sleep but we were able to see the sun rise. It was sooo beautiful.

The restaurant opened at 7.30am and we got something to eat before we were shown to our rooms, we were sooo thankful for those beds. We slept like babies for a few hours.

The hotel was clean, beautifully decorated and the beds were sooo comfortable. It was set in the most beautiful nature and the views from the pool were amazing! This was a special place we had found.

We had a fantastic week there. We relaxed, sun bathed, went swimming, went shopping, ate delicious food, explored the Island, read some good books, and just enjoyed hanging out together. The weather was a little too warm for us though. It was 38 degrees and a few of the days it got up to 40!!! I was dying at times, but we were soooo thankful for air condition in the room and car and the pool was a brilliant way to cool down!

The highlight of the trip was a boat trip we took around the East Coast of the Island. The trip was 5½ hours long. We stopped at different locations and had time to swim, explore different beaches and small towns. It was great to see the Island from the sea instead of just inland.

We had a really wonderful holiday.

When we got home Sara and Christian were here. They were going to Sweden to a motor race and had stopped over here to break up the journey. It was lovely to see them, even though it was only for a short time, they were packing up the car and getting ready to leave when we arrived home.

Now we have  only one more week left of holiday before it´s back to every day life again! I can´t complain, this is my fourth week off, and I am now actually ready to get back into every day life again!
