No wonder my hair is gray....

...it´s all these teenagers that are in the house!!

Yesterday afternoon the house got invaded. Leah invited her new boyfriend home. His name is Nicklas. She also invited Mia our neighbour over. Then Andrew invited Camilla over and so peace and quietness disappeared in the Rasmussen household for about 8 hours yesterday!! :-)

A bunch of teenagers are really noisy!! I had forgotten that! For the most of last week Kristian and I were on our own for dinner and I think we had just gotten used to the peace and quiet about the place.

They played Uno for a whle..

The idea was that they would all come for a BBQ but the weather was awful. It was like an Autumn day, windy, gray and cold so we changed the plan and I made Mexican.

After dinner they all piled into my car and went to the petrol station to buy ice cream. It was then home to watch a film. I thought peace would descend over the house while they watched TV....but oh no that never happened!  They still never shut up! haha

In the end I locked myself away in the bedroom with my scanner and went through some old pictures and scanned them into facebook.

Even though I complain about the noise, I did enjoy having them and I am getting to know them a little more each time. I really like Camilla the more I hang out with her, she has a great sense of humour and I can joke away with her. She really can bring Andrew out of his shell. Nicklas seems like a nice fella too so I am looking forward to getting to know him better.

There is something in the air.......

.....there must be, cause all my kids seem to be falling in love! haha

I am still trying to get my head around the fact that Andrew has a girlfriend, and as if that isn´t hard enough,  now Leah has also started the dating game!

She came home on Wednesday full of smiles. I started to joke with her and asked her if she was in love. She looked at me weird and said "what do you mean, why do you say that mum?" So I played along and said that it was something in her body language that told me. I wasn´t expecting her to confirm that but she smiled and said she might be. OH NO NOT ANOTHER ONE!!!

So Thursday evening she had a date with him. She biked to our town about 10 km away. We told her she had to be home by 10 pm. A few minutes after 10 pm Kristian and I decided to go a walk and who do you think we met on our walk. Leah and her friend. They were laughing, talking and just having fun. They nearly didn´t see us, only we said hello or they would have walked right past us.
So we introduced ourselves to him and asked him how he was going to get back home. He said he was just going to walk the 10 km back to town and then get a train to the next town. Now does this guy like my daughter or what???? Imagine being willing to walk 10 km back home!!!

I wasn´t going to let him walk back so we told them to just go home to us and when we were finished our walk we would take him home. And that´s what we did.

So today (Friday) they had another date before Leah went to work. Then he met her from work at 9pm so he could walk her to the train. He gave her a rose. How romantic is that!?! So I have a daughter that is beaming from ear to ear!

I am having such a great holiday. The weather has been fantastic and I have been relaxing and enjoying every minute of it. It´s great to have time to do things you don´t normally have time to do.
On Wednesday I spent a good bit of the day reading. The time just flies by when your reading a good book!

On Thursday Camilla came to dinner. Then we had some "old" neighbours  over for coffee and cake. We wanted to show them where we live now. It was so lovely to see them again. Their kids and our kids played together while growing up. We did a lot of things together when the kids were smaller. So it was just so great to see them again and catch up. They were here 3 hours and the time just flew by!

Today (Friday) I have spent painting. (And when I got a bit tired of that I sat in the garden reading!) I tried to paint some abstract stuff again.

I think maybe I need a few more branches on the ground.....

Anyway I had a fun day.

Organised....

...and then again, maybe I´m not.

I did try to be organised today.  It´s my day to visit my old lady friend so I decided I would make dinner before I went to her, so it would all be ready when I got home.

I decided to make an egg souffle with chicken. Then I would serve it cold with a salad and some bread. I also had a prawn cocktail arranged for starters.

It would only be Kristian and me eating at home this evening, so my plan was good - everything ready to dig into when I got home from visiting.

But things don´t always work out to plan! I was about to lift the spring form that the egg souffle was in, into the oven, when the whole thing just came apart! There were eggs everywhere! Arghhhhh - I saved what I could of it and put it into a smaller spring form. This just meant smaller slices for us for dinner, which probably wasn´t such a bad thing.

I had a lovely afternoon with my old lady. When I came home Kristian was out working on the garden. Getting the soil ready for sowing some grass. He really enjoys his time out there!

We had  a lovely dinner together and then headed out to a meeting to hear more about a business that I am getting involved in. In fact you are now looking at a business owner! I am an Amway Business Owner! Amway is a company that sells beauty products, cleaning products, and health products like vitamins.

My friend started a business and to help her out I arranged for some friends to come home and try the face cleansers and creams that Amway sell. I myself tried them too and have been so impressed by them. (Not just something I am saying to try and sell them, I notice such a big difference in my skin and I just bought the cheapest brand that they sell. )

As my friend talked about the business I wondered if I should join. It would help her out and it could be fun to try something new. So I have. I am now trying to kick start my wee business. But more about that at a later date:-)

It has been a great evening. The meeting was only one hour long and it was really interesting to hear about the business that I have now gotten myself involved in. (It is something I am doing in my free time)

I also got to chat with a very famous person here in Denmark. When I first came to Denmark we watched him on TV all the time! Way back then I never thought I would one day be sitting chatting with him like I had known him all my life!  A lovely, funny, down to earth man.

A rather productive day I would say!

Ahhhh.....Summer.....

.....and we are all relaxing....even the cat (but she relaxes the whole year round!)

Breakfast and quiet time outside in the sun! Wonderful:-)

Leah was the only one not relaxing. She was heading out with her friend to Bakken - an amusement park in the forest. Wild rides was on her agenda for the day!

Can´t believe.....

....that I am off work now for the next month!  It hasn´t quite sunk in yet so I keep having to remind myself. Oh it feels good!

It also feels good to have had a productive weekend here at home. Kristian was home too - no go-karting this weekend! I love when he is home and we have had a lovely weekend just hanging out here.

We decided we wanted to get rid of the big flower bed. We are just not garden people. We decided we wanted a bigger grass area so we will sow grass and make a tiny flower bed up against the fence.

That meant the bushes had to come out of the flower bed. Kristian and Andrew got to work!

By the end of it all, it was looking good. Camilla came for dinner and hung out for a while. Andrew is still totally head over heels in love! They make a cute couple. (still weird for me to see my son like this!)

After dinner Andrew took Camilla home and Laura, Mia, Leah and I decided to go for a bike ride. I don´t have a bike so I borrowed Mia´s old bike - a bit on the small side but it did the job!

You see we are in training! Next week we are going on a road trip!! Us four girls are going off for two days of biking - now that should be fun!!  But my poor bum needs to get into shape! haha We must have biked 8 km last night and I could hardly sit on the bike by the end of that. We will be biking about 36 km next week to a bed and breakfast place on the coast! Dear help me!

It was a beautiful evening and I got to see some areas close to us that I haven´t had a chance to explore. It was so beautiful.

When we got home I took some time outside to water my plants and tidy up my paint room. When I came in this is what I found.......

A tired father and daughter after a hard day.

Today has been a beautiful day. This afternoon I decided to do some painting....only this time on the fence. We found some old paint out in the garage and so Kristian and I had a lovely afternoon out getting the fence all fixed up. Laura (our neighbour) was gone and we wanted to surprise her by having the fence all painted for her coming home!

Slowly but surely things are coming together. It takes time but I just love this wee place. (Old and run down as it is) I feel so blessed to be here and I hope that we have the joy of living here for many years to come.

Happy 4th of july!!

My neighbour Laura is American so we  were going to celebrate the 4th of July together. She had invited us for a BBQ so she provided the food and we provided the grill, table and chairs.

At work I printed some American flags and hung them around the place,  to try and make it all look a bit more festive.

Andrew wasn´t home. Guess where he was?  Yeah, a romantic date with Camilla!

Leah was at work - poor girl had to miss out on all the fun at home.

We had a delicious dinner together and just enjoyed each others company.

Meanwhile Shadow (our cat) had found a baby bird that had fallen out of its nest and she was playing with it. The poor wee bird was still alive - it was awful! Nature is cruel!

We got Shadow of the bird. We didn´t know what to do, should we kill it and put it out of its misery? Was it badly hurt or could it survive? We just couldn´t kill it. We decided to try and save it and made a nest for it and fed it some water. Unfortunately the wee thing died a short time after - probably better for it.

At 9pm I went to get Leah and bought a load of ice cream to take home. Meanwhile Laura had made meringues nests with strawberries and blueberries. I came with the ice cream and we put that on top of the fruit! So delicious! Leah at least got to be in on the dessert!

Now for a funny story.....

Yesterday was my last day at work. I now have holiday for 4½ weeks!

Laura wanted to do something special for me so she thought she would make a sign to wish me a happy last day at work!

Now she knew I left for work at around 6.40am and so she thought she would get up just after 6am and go for a walk down the road. There are a few trees here and there and she would hide behind one of the trees. She would pick a tree where she could see the car coming at a good distance, so she could jump out in good time.

So off she went. She found her position and waited.

My car is a light blue Chevrolet Spark. At 6.47am a light blue Chevrolet Spark came over the hill and down the winding road. Laura got ready to surprise me. She waited till I got close - but not too close - she didn´t want to shock me too much and get knocked down.

At the right moment she jumped out from behind the tree and started to dance like an idot in the middle of the road, holding up the sign "Happy Last Day"  She danced her heart out! hahaha

As the car got closer she suddenly realised that it wasn´t me in the car!!! hahaha It was an older man who was looking at her with a state of shock on his face. He slowed down a little, gave her the weirdest look, a slight wave with his hand and took off again! hahaha

You see there are two ways that I can go to work. When we moved here I did go the way that Laura was standing. I remember us talking about it once, way back when we moved in. She was saying how hard it was to see out of the car window in the morning when going to work, because she was driving in the direction of the sun.  I told her I didn´t have that problem because I went the opposite way.

However I quickly found out that going that way took longer because of a set of traffic lights that made you wait 2-3 minutes! (and I am always late in the morning so I don´t have 2-3 minutes to spare!) I never told Laura that I had changed the way I go to work! Why should I??? hahaha Now I am soooo glad I didn´t! haha

When she came in yesterday and told me the story I thought I was going to die laughing! She gave me a demonstration of the dance! (and since she was just out of bed she had on the weirdest mixture of clothes!) I wonder what that poor man thought!?

Maybe he thought someone had escaped from a mental hospital! Maybe he thought it was dooms day and this was HIS last day on earth! I wonder if he told anyone about his experience!? hahaha

Miranda could use this in one of her TV series....it was a real Miranda moment! hahahaha

I just love my neighbour!
