The night I had been waiting for...

...it finally arrived! Our Mamma Mia night! I was so excited - couldnt wait to get on my gear and plaster my face with make up!! haha

Even got myself a new hair style for the evening!!

Lorraine, Charlene, Julie and myself all met up for subway before the film. Julie was the only other ejit that was dressed up!! Good on you girl!! haha I personally think that Julie and I were the best dressed there!!

Must say we got some funny looks walking up the Lisburn Road!! haha Well after having a delicious subway we headed to the wee cinema. Roy the owner welcomed us and he was so friendly, couldnt do enough for us.

There were signs to welcome us.....

pretty girls everywhere haha.....

I got to spend the evening watching one of my favourite movies with some of my favourite people in the world. What a night!!
Etta, Rhonda, Lorraine, Helen, Sharon, Laura, Julie, Charlene, and Anne. This was the happy group who would soon occupy the cinema.
I got to be the Lyons maid and there was free ice cream for everyone!!

What a cute wee cinema!!

It was great to see Helen and Sharon again. It has been about 21 years since I last met up with them ...Sharon lives in the USA and just happened to be home visiting family. I have sooo many great memories of them from my teenage years!

After the film we hung around exchanging stories and catching up with each others lives. Brilliant night. Thanks girls! Thanks Julie for coming up with the idea and thanks for driving me home, driving me to the hospital, and then driving me home again!!
Tonight my dad took a nose bleed. He couldnt get it stopped so he had to go to the hospital. When we came home from the film, I couldnt find our house key, so Julie had to run me to the hospital were I had to go in looking like I did and collect the key to the house from dad! I sure got some strange looks.
Dad is still not home. They have taken blood tests, so I dont know if they will keep him in or let him home soon. I'll keep you posted.
(I wrote this post late last night when I got home from our night out. Dad came home around 2.15am. Blood tests were fine and his nose had stopped bleeding. He's great this morning!)

After a bite to eat we will drive to the cinema. As far as I know it is Noels brothers cinema thats called the Excelsior Cinema. Noels cinema The Tudor is on Drumhill Road (nr 22) and the one we are going to is further down the road. We will meet there at 7.30 - 7.45pm

I cant wait to see you all. Remember to wear a tena pad girls!! I am sure we are going to laugh soooo much!! See you all later!!

Where is the time going....

The weekend is gone and we have only 2 days left!!

Saturday found us in Belfast city centre. Primark got, yet again, some business from Leah.

We met up with my brother for lunch and had some delicious food at a Spainish restaurant. It was great to catch up!!

We came home tired, so Leah decided to relax with a bath. We dont have a bath at home in Denmark and since we pay for our water, we always take quick showers. Leah really enjoyed relaxing in the bubbles...and she smelt sooooo good!!

Today (Sunday) we were off to church. I just love seeing again all the people that I grew up with. Then it was home for a quick lunch before going up to Lady Dixons park to meet up with an "old" friend from school. Alex and I went to school together and I havent seen him in 24 years!! It was so good to see him again and meet his lovely family. We had a great afternoon at the park. His girls took real good care of Leah and I enjoyed getting to know his wife.

So all in all its been a great weekend. Leah, dad and I are now exhausted, but its a good exhaustion!
Now I am looking forward to tomorrow evening. I am meeting up with my old girl friends. We are having our Mamma Mia night!! Yipiee!! So check out the blog over the next few days - I am sure some wild pictures will appear!!

A day with family

Today was spent with family. We decided we would go to North Down Museum to learn about the history of Bangor. It was really interesting and we had a wonderful afternoon walking around there.

We discovered that the Danes actually attacked Bangor away back in 795 - you bad, bad Danes!

How on earth did they ride bikes like the one below....

There was a whole section in the museum about The Vikings...but we had a true viking with us!

When we had enough culture we headed into Bangor for a bit of shopping. Then it was home to Gillians again for a lovely dinner. It was a super afternoon and we really enjoyed ourselves. Thanks Gillian , Lauren and Lewis!

A day with "OLD" friends...

and I dont mean old in the sense of the word that they are old. Sharon and Jeffrey have just been a part of our lives for a long time - so they are old in that sense of the word. We have many good memories together.

So today Leah and I were up early and away to, yes you guessed it - PRIMARK. We made a promise to each other that we would not buy anything today. we would take our time and look and get an idea of what they had. Well we didnt totally keep that promise. I got a pair of trainers for £3 and Leah a pair of shoes for £2. We just cant resist a bargin!!

Dad collected us from town and we headed up to Sharon and Jeffrey.

Their son Andrew is getting married this September and moving to America, so I just had to get a photo taken with him while he was still a single man!!! Next time I see him he will be a married man and I wont be able to throw my arms around him like this!! haha (I told Andrew this but he was quick to remind me that I was an old married woman -oops sorry Kristian I forgot about that for a second or two!! haha) Andrew we wish you and Whitney every happiness!!

Jeffrey took dad and me to a brilliant Christian bookshop. I thought I had died and gone to heaven. It was amazing! A couple of hours were spent there before heading home to some delicious chinese and a wonderful Pavlova!! Sharon and Jeffrey thanks for a wonderful afternoon.

Below is a special message for Kristian....

And we're off....

Tuesday evening Kristian played taxi driver. First he dropped Sara off at her friends house. They were leaving for France. Then it was off to Copenhagen airport to drop off his last two girls. Leah and I were going to Ireland (just in case someone missed that point) and we were really looking forward to it.

Leah and her dad have this game called "yellow car". Everytime they see a yellow car they try to punch each other while shouting out "yellow car" (I am sure there is a name for this game but I cant remember what its called) Well Kristian look what Leah saw - she owes you all these punches when she gets home!!

We flew from Copenhagen to London and we spent the night at the airport before flying out early the next morning. It was a rough night!! The floor was really hard, a little cold and the airport was noisy. We didnt get much sleep.

But we arrived in Ireland in one piece just very tired. It was great to see dad again and we had an easy day at home with him. Late afternoon we went a visit up to my mums grave. It was 8 years ago to the day that she died. She was an amazing woman and I have so many wonderful memories of her.

Strange happenings reported in Denmark....

Tonight we were out visiting my friend Anne and her family. We had the most delicious food and as usual we all ate too much. We had such a cosy time sitting eating and chatting. But as soon as darkness descended over the land strange things started to happen in Anne and Peters household! At first the strange changes were not too radical...

But as the night progressed, things just got stranger and stranger!!
Everyones behaviour seemed to change. Lucky for you there were cameras present. Some of the strange happenings were captured on camera. Take a look - if you dare!!!

(Thanks Anne and Peter for a wonderful night - we always have sooo much fun with you all!)

Memory Lane...

Last night Kristian was going through old files on his computer and he found a few old film clips that we had forgot about.

I thought I would upload this one of Leah - High School Musical was the big hit and she had made up a dance to one of the songs. It was taken only 2 years ago when we were on holiday looking after her cousins farm.

There is such a change in 2 years. Now she is becoming more of a teenager and the wee girl in this video clip is slowly disappearing. I enjoyed seeing this sooo much, it was nice to get to see my wee girl again....

Today I did something that I havent done in years - I went to visit a dentist!! I HATE dentists and it´s been 6 or 7 years (or maybe 8 or 9!!) since I have been for a visit. I know - stupid of me, but I have such awful teeth (all the more reason to go, I hear you say).

Well the problem for me was that I would go to the dentist for my check up without sore teeth, then I would come away with sore teeth because I always had to get something done. So a long time ago I decided that I would first go to them when I got SORE teeth. (I know, I know, stupidity at its best!)

Well, that time has come. While we were in France I started to get a sore tooth. Its not a constant pain, just like a nerve that gets hit from time to time.(YUK) So today I decided I would do something with it. I decided I would go and talk to a dentist and see if I could get a time to get a check up and estimate of what needs done.

Well you should have seen me! I was a nervous wreck. I got Kristian to come with me and when I got out of the car I stood and cried. We had to go a walk so I could get calmed down - and I was only going in to get a time for a check up!!! haha It seems really silly now.

I got a time - but they are going off on holiday so the first time I could get was 12th August. I have this deal with them that if the pain gets worse and I cant stand it I will find another dentist and cancel their appointment. But at the minute I am praying over my teeth so I can get through the next few weeks till my check up!! I am dreading going - I can already feel the pain and hear the drill!! (AHHHH!!!) Although I think the place that it is going to hurt the most is in my purse!!!

Now for something else....anybody around for a chat night tomorrow?? If you are, I will be on line to chat Friday 17th July at 8pm (english time) - and if you are you new to chat, just press on the blue button on the left hand side that says "Chat with me" and sign in. Hope you can make it!

Out is good - but home is best!

...and home we are again! We had a wonderful holiday in France. It was a good mixture of relaxing and getting out and about to see some of the country. The kids were just great to be with and we had a lot of good family time together.

The last few days of our holiday we spent just relaxing at the campsite although we did at one point leave the campsite and go for a walk up to the waterfalls that were near by.

Like I said - out is good but home is best and it was wonderful to come home again and see Sara.(and off course Shadow!)

Sara survived while we were gone (although she was a bit surprised to find out that she actually missed us!) She was working during the week and the two weekends that we were away she spent with friends. The first weekend she went to visit her cousin Christine and they invited Jack and Kasper over. They had a BBQ together without burning the meat!! (or burning the house down!)

Christine came home to stayed with Sara one of the weekends. Her mum and dad were also away on holiday and she was staying at home to work too. (what dedicated young people we have! haha )

They also went off to one of the local amusement parks, along with Jack, Kasper and another friend. They had a great day out.

Looking through all Saras photos it looks like she had a good time at home. The house was even clean and tidy when we came home!

Although she enjoyed being home there was one thing she didnt enjoy sooo much...that was the frozen food she ate. (well it wasnt frozen when she ate it! haha) Sara is like me - she hates to cook and is not interested in it. I had stocked the freezer up with frozen foods like pizza, chicken nuggets, stir fries, chinese rolls etc. so she could just stick things in the oven. She had lived on that stuff (and pasta) while we were gone. So when we came home, I made a lovely home cooked meal for us all and boy did I get lots of praise and thanks for that delicious meal.

So since coming home I have done nothing constructive. My plans were to come home and unpack, do washing, and get all tidied up - ah what a laugh, I have done none of it!

Today Sara and I had a girls day out. We went out shopping. Sara is leaving, on Tuesday, for France for 2 weeks holiday.

All her hard work has paid off and she has saved enough to be able to go on this trip. She will spend the time at go-kart races, the one week at one race then travelling on to another race. She is soooo happy that everything has worked out. So today we went out bargin hunting to get her some shorts and t-shirts. She got a few tops and a pair of shorts and at Primark prices! (there were so many sales with 70% off things!) So I had a happy girl. It was really nice to be out with her today, we had a great afternoon together. Thanks Sara!!

Good weather at last

Today the good weather finally arrived!

We spent the day down at the lake (yet again!!) It was just so hot, so being down there was great, the cool breeze was welcoming.

Andrew and Kristian decided to hire a couple of canoes and go out sailing. Leah swam around in between their canoes. I lay on the beach reading. I love this life!!

Think we just got a little too much sun today - we are all a bit red this evening!!

Friday 10 July 2009

Go-karting

The last time we were here Sara found a go-kart racing track, so this time Leah, Andrew and Kristian wanted to go and try it out. I was more than willing to tag along because I had my book with me!! (above picture - dont they look funny! the nets are put on before taking on the helmets)

Leah finally got to try kart racing and she thought it was fun BUT not sooo much fun that she wanted to take it up as a hobby! (Yipieeee!) She would rather stick to horses!

The Alpes

Once again the weather wasnt to be good, so the kids suggested that we headed out again.

Our travels took us this time to the Alpes.

It was an amazing trip. Words can not describe the beauty....we were in awe!! (What a great God we have!!)

We started off in Lausanne and then travelled further south. We ended in a wee town called Chamonix. Beautiful! It was another wonderful day. We came home really late!

Wednesday 8 July 2009

Today we decided just to stay at the campsite again. Leah and Andrew wanted to spend the day at the lake and Kristian and I love it down there, so we had no objections!
The weather was cloudy so when the sun came out it was really warm, but when it disappeared behind a cloud it turned cold - so I dont know how many times we changed clothes today!

Leah just loves the water - she is constantly in it no matter what the weather is like - hot or cold!

Each evening after dinner we have been going down to the lake - Leah takes her evening dip - I dont know how she does it, it is not warm at that time of the evening!! But we have had some lovely evenings down there and we have seen some wonderful sunsets.

When its too dark to be outside anymore we sit around playing uno.
