Halloween...

...Leah was off to a Halloween party tonight, so we spent the afternoon getting her ready.

I decided to decorate the house a little for when the kids came around the doors, so we put up some lights, spiderwebs and spiders. I got a big bowl and filled it will sweets. We were ready!

I decided to put on a wig and my false teeth and give all the kids a shock when I opened the door to them. Just after dinner the door bell rang. Now was my chance to have fun.

As I opened the door I let out a wicked laugh and said "Happy Halloween" the look on the 3 girls faces was priceless. I had planned to be a nasty Cruella but decided I better turn friendly pretty quickly.

Some of the kids didnt know whether they should hang around or run for their lives. Thankfully all of them decided to stay, at least long enough to dip into the sweetie bowl. They were all smiling when they went on their way - so no harm done!

Andrew and Sara had been hoping no one would ring the door bell - they wanted the sweetie bowl all for themselves - greedy things!!

We ended the evening with a visit from our neighbour, (dressed as a ghost,) and his 3 kids. We had a lovely evening with them. The kids and me played Uno for a while before they all headed into Leahs room to play. By 9pm we didnt expect anymore kids to call so we all got stuck into the last of the sweets!! Love these spontanous visit from neighbours!

On Friday when Kristian came home from work he had a slice of cake for me. Friday is cake day, somone bakes or buys cake. There was one piece left and instead of throwing it out, Kristian brought it home for me to try. (He just knew I would love it!)

It was a Halloween cake and it was delicious!!!! I had seen an advert for it in our local bakery but didnt think much about them. Well after tasting it yesterday I made sure that I was up early this morning so that I could buy one at our local bakery. Boy how we have stuffed our faces! It was to die for!!!

Between the cake and all the sweets I think I have put on 3 kg in one night!! But tomorrow is the 1st November, a new day, a new month, with new goals - one being that I am going to get healthy and start excercising again - anyone up for the challenge??? One month to lose a few kilos before Christmas.

The extra hour didnt seem to help

....even though the clocks went back 1 hour and I got myself an extra hours sleep, it didnt seem to help!! So here I am early to bed (with my computer) hoping that this will help boost my energy level.

I have had a really lovely day today, mainly because of the weather. It was gray and rainy all day long. It was so cosy being inside work watching the rain pour down. The only problem was that I didnt want to work - all day long I just wanted to go home, light loads of candles, and cuddle up on the sofa with a book or a good film. I was in a cosy mood all day!! But, somehow, I got myself through the day - and even managed to do some work too!

When I came home there was a package for me. About 1½ weeks ago I had ordered the film "Summer Holiday" with Cliff Richard. Anyone remember that one? So while I was making dinner, I did what I had been dreaming about all day - I lit some candles and put on the film.

While preparing the chicken, vegetables and potatoes I was singing my heart out to summer holiday, bachelor boy, etc. Oh it was a real blast from the past!!!! (Must be the first time in ages that I actually enjoyed making dinner!!! haha)

So for those of you who want to walk down memory lane with me, just click below. Its my favourite song from the film - THE NEXT TIME - (Did anyone else play this song over and over again whenever their heart had just been broken??? We girls really know how to make ourselves miserable!! hahaha )

Roll on Christmas!!!

Our weeks holiday is over. The next time we are off is for Christmas - so roll on Christmas!!

We had a great week off - the last few days of the holiday were spent relaxing, shopping and visiting family. By Monday morning I was ready to go back to work - I was relaxed and refreshed, and it felt good to be going back again.
(Leah and her Granny Rasmussen - we spent one day off the holidays down at their house. We got lots of delicious food!! Love my mother-in-laws cooking!)

Yesterday (Tuesday) Sara arrived home from Belgium. She had a great time there and she just loved Alessios family - they gave her a brilliant week ! It was really hard to say goodbye this time. (Oh I remember it well!!) so now the saving has begun so that another trip can be made, sometime in the near future!!

For a few months now our washing machine has been leaking water from the pump. Finally last week we got to talk to the caretaker of our apartments. He sent a man out to check out the machine and they decided it wasnt worth fixing so a new washing machine was ordered for us. It came yesterday and it is wonderful!! I am loving it. (maybe this will help me to love doing the washing!! -doubt it though!! haha) The best part about it is that it didnt cost us a penny, it comes with the apartment!!

So far, so good.....

....the holiday so far has been so good. The house is soooo organised and clean - it´s unbelievable!! (Only got the back balcony to go!!)

All weekend Kristian was in Sweden as an offical at a Historic Grand Prix race. He had a great weekend but had a bit of a shock when he came home and saw the pile of black bags and boxes sitting out side on our balcony, just ready to be taken to the dump!!

Now they are gone and I´m a happy lady!! haha (except for one bag that Kristian managed to see with all his old manuels, magazines and empty game boxes - now why on earth would you keep them!!)

On Monday Kristians cousin Jacob came by - (you might remember him from our wedding - he was the best man). We dont get to see him so often as he lives on the other side of Denmark. So it was sooo good to see him again - we had a cosy time with him.

Tuesday morning we were all up at the crack of dawn!! (literally) Sara was off to Belgium. She had to be in the airport by 7.30am! Krisitan and I drove her in and we had a bit of breakfast with her at the airport before she flew off to see her one and only Alessio!! (It sure brought back memories for me from the times I flew over to see Kristian!)

I got an sms from her this morning. She is doing well. Alessios family are really nice - his parents can only speak french but they are having fun using sign language to talk. Alessio is away today so Sara is spending the day with his cousin and mum. They are out for brunch and they have one very important object with them - a French to English dictionary!!

Later on in the day we went to visit our good friends Anne and Peter. What a blast we always have with them - and this time was no different. We ordered pizza´s. Anne had made a salad to go along with them and I had taken the dessert along.

Anne has been looking for a painting to put on her wall. She had asked me to go and check out some paintings with her sometime but when we arrived last night she had the most beautiful painting on her wall. I thought she had been to visit the gallery and had already got the painting that she wanted - but NO - she had painted it herself. I was totally amazed!!! I just fell for it as soon as I saw it.
The photo below does not do it justice....you cant see the details and the colours properly. Well done Anne!!

So after dinner the evening went with playing games. Anne had arranged a family game - us two families against each other and I had arranged a competition game too. It was fun.

Then we played Jeopardy!
Finally we ended off on the playstation - what a laugh!!!
A really great night was had by all!!! Thanks Anne and Peter!

Clear up time.....

While the cats away the mice will play, someone once said. Well my big cat is away (not Shadow - Kristian) and I sure am playing up. I am clearing up and throwing out and it feels great!!

The house has been annoying me for weeks! It might have looked tidy to the eye but when you opened a cupboard, the contents literally fell out and hit you on the head. Since I am off work for a week, I decided to start the holiday by getting everything cleared up.

I started in the office and worked around all the cupboards and boxes we have. Kristian has soooo much rubbish in boxes on top of our wardrobes, mainly manuels for racing games, computer magazines, electrical bits and pieces and manuels on printers and computers that we dont even have anymore......but a majority of those things are not there anymore!!

While up in town today I saw this basket going for £10 so I grabbed it. Just another little extra piece of storage.......

Now I have a few of the cupboards all organised. It feels sooo good. I still have got some more sorting to do so I better not stay on here too long! My goal is to have it all done by the time Krisitan comes home tomorrow. In fact by the time I go to bed tonight the cupboards should all be organised.

Kristian is away for the weekend. (He is mixing with the rich and famous!!) He is in Sweden at a historic grand prix were he is an offical, waving a flag at some post along the track. Last time he did that he got to speak to one of our Princes whose car broke down right in front of his post.

This week we are all off work and school - even Kristian! We are soooo looking forward to a week at home to relax, visit friends and go for walks in the beautiful October weather. Sara however is looking forward to her visit to Beligum!! Tuesday cant come quick enough!!

Guitar lessons

Leah started guitar lessons today! We found a really great teacher for her - ME!!! hahaha

Over the last few weeks she has been talking about learning guitar so we made a deal that every Monday at 4pm she would go to guitar lessons with me. If she enjoys it and keeps it up we will find a real teacher for her after Christmas.

It went really well today and I think she picked it up quickly. She learnt G, C and D so she has lots ot practising to do before next Mondays lesson. :-)

Ladies Night

Friday night was "Ladies Night" in one of the towns close by. Anne and I decided to check it out as we really needed a ladies night out!

It was great fun. All the shops were open until 10pm. The shopping centres had free massages, make overs, and free testers. We wandered around looking at different things and had dinner in a cute wee cafe. It was delicious and the service was just brilliant. The waiters could not do enough for us and they had a really good sense of humor...all of them!!

More walking around the shops. We went into one shop and made so much fuss about how cute everything was (it was a shop selling photo frames, candles sticks, soap bags - just real girlie stuff) that a man waiting on his wife just looked at us, shook his head and walked out. We had a laugh about that! hahaha

We ended the evening with hot chocolate served with hot apple pie and cream - well I did! Anne had pancakes and ice-cream served with her cafe latte. A really great evening! Thanks Anne for the fun. I always laugh sooooo much when I´m with you! (Mostly because Anne only understands about half of what I am saying in Danish!!! We are always misunderstanding each other!! That gives us some laughs!! )

Saturday saw the last go-kart race of the season!! (THANK GOODNESS FOR THAT!!) So once again we had a full house. Two of Sara´s friends were staying here. The weather was wild on Saturday (just my sort of weather - rain and wind!!) so Kristian and the three girls looked like drowned rats by the time they got home!

Sunday we were at our friends Jette and Philips youngest childs christening. It was such a good service and afterwards we all ate lunch together. It was soooo good to see them again. All in all, it has been a really great weekend!
