Gospel Celebration

What do you get if you put 5 Gospel choirs together? Gospel Celebration!!!

Leah´s choir was singing this evening along with 4 other choirs. The idea was that they would sing for each other and just have a celebration night. It was a closed concert...no outsiders allowed, only choir members but somehow I managed to sneak in!! You see it´s not what you know, it´s who you know. So I got in!! (Yipieee) But then I spent the whole night trying to act like I fitted in with some choir!! haha Must have done a good job cause at the coffee break I went outside and this man asked me which choir I was with!!  I had to confess that I had sneaked in! Turned out the man lived in my town, but came from America - how weird is that, another foreginer living here.

Anyway it was a great night! We left at the coffee break since it was starting to get late. Leah´s choir had had its turn and the other choirs were all adult ones.

I am now actually really considering joining a gospel choir, it just makes you feel so good singing gospel! Just wondering if I have the time for it??!!

Leah sang a new song this evening. I was sitting right up against the speaker so the sound was not the best....but I recorded it anyway. (I think that was maybe one of the give away signs that I was not with a choir -  I was the only one with a camera!!! haha but nothing gets in the way of filming for my blog!! haha) I think Leah did a good job.

A special day for Leah.....

Today a bunch of young people at our church received Bibles.Leah was one of them.  The kids had attended  a course from January where they went through the basics of Chistianity.
Today they were all up on stage and asked a few questions. (Here is Leah answering her question.)
Then they received their Bibles. Leah already has a Danish Bible so she had wished for an English Bible; "The girls application study Bible" with a bright pink cover! She got her wish!! Then a blessing was prayed over all the young people, it was really lovely.

Most Danish kids get confirmed at this age and they hold a BIG party and I mean BIG...it is such a big thing over here to get confirmed.

Anyway since our church is not a state church we do not do confirmation but the kids that get a Bible usually use this special occassion as a time to hold a party. Today most of the kids had a lot of family and friends at church and they were going home to hold a BIG party with their guests.

We are not the typical Danish family, and I am not so into confirmation parties, I think it´s a bit over the top, but then again it´s not my tradition, I didn´t grow up with it.  So Leah wasn´t expecting anyting to happen.

Even though I am not into these type of parties  I am still a mother that wants her kid to have a good day and not feel that she is missing out on something, so I had invited Kristian´s mum and dad to church and then home to lunch.

Leah had invited her friend Cecille to be there too.

Kristian and I had bought a wee present for Leah - a blouse, a make-up bag and a giftcard to our local "Boots". Sara and Andrew made her a present for a cosy night at home which contained cute tins filled with sweets, a mug with hot chocolate and a film. Granny and Granda Rasmussen bought her a giftcard to buy something for herself and her friend Cecille bought her a braclet. She was over the moon with it all as she had not been expecting anything to happen.

.

We picked up a few Roses going cheap (they were on their last legs!) but Leah was over the moon with them!!
And then there was her Bible which she really loved. She was over the moon with that too!

I tried to make the "party" feel like a real Danish party by having a song that we had to sing about Leah. I wrote the words to the tune of  "6 miles from Bangor to Donaghadee" we had a laugh with that.

All in all I think she had a great day!! The best part for me was this evening when on her way to bed she said "Thanks mum for all the things you did for me today" Now that made all the hard work over the last few days worthwhile!!

He did it again....

Kristian arranged a fantastic weekend away. He picked a lovely hotel, really cosy and in an area we hadn´t explored before. The staff were so friendly and couldnt do enough for us. The food was sooo delicious and once again I ate too much! We had time to relax, explore the area and just enjoy being together.

We left home Friday at lunchtime. We both were off work - it was a holy day over here. The weather was gorgeous when we left and continued to be like that the whole time we were away.

On Saturday we got up to a  wonderful breakfast. Then it was of to one of the small islands. The hotel made us a picnic basket so if we got stranded we would survive!!  A 25 minute sailing trip and we were on a lovely wee island. It was just so beautiful and peaceful.  We got ourselves a couple of bikes and were able to bike all over the island. We ate our picnic lunch by a pond before heading back to catch the ferry again. It was such a wonderful day.

We took the scenic route home and stopped off at one of the big shopping centres for an hours shopping. (We only had 1 hour left before the shops closed!) Then it was home to see if the house was still standing after Sara and Andrew had been home alone.

Just going away for 24 hours makes such a difference. We felt like we had been away for days! So go on people out in Cyber World - treat yourself and the one you love to an overnight stay at a hotel near you!!

More blessings....

I am blessed with so many great friends! I have great Cybercity friends, great local friends and great friends at home in Ireland. One of my local friends is Rhona.

In December my friend Rhona had a birthday and we went out for brunch to celebrate. We found this cosy cafe and the brunch we got was so delicious that we decided we would make it our tradition to go there for our birthdays.

Yesterday we went there to celebrate my birthday. The cafe had new owners and the brunch was not as delicious as the previous one we´d had, however I still enjoyed it!!

The best thing was that I got to see Rhona and we got to chat for ages! Even though we were together about 4 hours the time flew by!

After brunch we did a bit of shopping and I got a couple of lovely tops for my birthday. Thank you Rhona!!!

Rhona is really good at seeing what clothes suit a person - I am hopeless at that. I really only buy clothes if I desperately need something new. I would much rather spend my time (money) in a book, DVD or music shop. But after being out with Rhona she inspired me!! (I went out to buy food in our local supermarket and ended up spending ½ an hour trying on clothes and wishing Rhona was there to help me decide!) So our next plan is to Trinny and Susannah me!! haha (Can´t wait!!)

Today I have been good. Since Rhona and I live so close we decided to go out and run together. In work I didn´t feel like going out running but because I had made a date with Rhona, I did it!  I really enjoyed it, so hopefully now this will get me going with the exercising that I so desperately need.

We are off work tomorrow. It´s holiday, so we have a long weekend. My hubby is taking me away to a wee romantic hotel South from here. Sara and Andrew are at home watching the cat and Winnie is coming to stay too. Leah is off on a weekend with the church - yet again!!! (she is never home!!!)

Be it unto me

I have had a wonderful Sunday evening. I have spent the evening at a praise service right in my own wee bedroom. I got  one of my favourite worship leaders up on youtube and spent the evening praising. It has been wonderful. Many of the songs I found or heard I knew already but there were a few new ones and so I thought I would share one of them with you, it´s called  "Be it unto me."

What beautfiul words..."Be it unto me according to your word, according to your promises I can stand secure., carve upon my heart, the truth that sets me free!" WOW I love that.

How many times I forget what God´s word says and I listen to the lies of Satan, to the lies the world tells me. How important it is to listen to what God says about me and to build my life on that. How important to have His word carved on my heart and to follow His plans.

Oh there were so many good songs,  I want to share them all. Ok one more!! haha  You can decide if you want to listen to it or not:-)

Wonderful musicians!!

Scottish Blood....

My friend Anne is convinced that I have Scottish blood in me. Every time we go to town together I refuse to park in the car parks close to town and pay a load of money. I park in the free car parking places, but this means a bit of a walk to town. Anne on the other hand just parks where she wants and pays the price for it. (you have too much money Anne!!! haha)

So Anne has a birthday on Sunday, I had a birthday last Saturday so last night (Friday) we decided to go out and celebrate together. As always we had a great evening with serious times of deep conversation but also a lot of silly times with lots of laughter.....

If you have watched the video you will know that we did a lot of laughing! We also did do a lot of running! We bought our tickets at 8.35pm for the cinema and then realised that the car was parked miles away at the other side of town. We didn`t want to walk all the way back to it at 11pm - especially as we had to go through the old castle grounds to get to it and with the imaginations that we have, we would have scared ourselves silly:-)

We literally ran through the town, totally stressed, it was a race against time. Yet we could see the funny side of the whole thing. We honestly didn´t think we would make it but thankfully we did.

The film was great, I really enjoyed it. When it was finished we decided to drive to McDonalds for an ice cream and coke. We were dying for a drink. So at 11.15pm we arrived at McDonalds and spent an hour talking there. I then drove Anne home where we spent another hour outside her house, sitting talking in the car, sorting out all the worlds problems!!

It was a really great evening! (Tak Anne:-)

Leah and her puppets

In Denmark, Child Evangelism Fellowship makes TV programmes for children to teach them about God. These programmes are aired every Sunday morning. They are made in a very creative way.  Leah is involved with the making of them , she is one of the puppeteers. She loves being involved with this.

If you want to check out some of these programmes you can see them on www.gps-tv.dk (but it is all in Danish -sorry!)

Below is one of the music videos from the programme, that she has been involved with.....

(translation of chorus of the song:
Every day we praise you God,
Every day we thank you God
Every day we sing about God

like we do now, do now
Yes we praise you, show you that we love you God
We lift up our hands and send our love up to you.)

A year older....

yes, it has happened once again! I am a year older, but may I add, it is ONLY in body:-) My body is now 42 years old, my soul is about 19 years old!! haha

Yesterday was my birthday and I had a lovely day even though most of it was spent at work. Yes I was working on a Saturday! We were all on a course from 9am till 4pm. It wasn´t so bad and the day went by quickly. (Good job I enjoy being with my colleagues!!)

While I was at work Kristian was at home. I came home to a clean and tidy Publish Posthouse. On my desk there were a few surprises waiting. I got some lovely presents - a few DVD´s from the kids. I got the  Miranda TV series ,so I am looking forward to a night of laughter while watching them. I got The Fame TV series from 1982 and to top it all I got a romantic weekend away with my hubby in a cosy hotel, in a room with a sea view. (A REAL sea view and not just a painted one!! haha)

We headed out for dinner and stuffed ourselves.

It was then home to watch a film and relax. The only thing missing was Sara. She was away this weekend. She was away visiting a friend in Sweden....but that is a whole other story that I must write about some day soon.

One thing did shadow my birthday. Some good friends of our family lost their daughter this week. She was only 48 or 49 years old. She had been a leader in my GB when I lived in Ireland. She was a gem, a really lovely girl and even though I hadn´t seen her in years I felt the loss. It somehow felt unreal, unfortunately it wasn´t. She was buried on my birthday and I really wished that I could have been there for the funeral and to just give her mum and dad a hug.

Gone slightly mad....

...yet again!!!

Kristian left the house yesterday morning to visit his sister Signe. They are having a concert together very soon, so a bit of practising was needed. He was staying down with her this weekend. So I had a whole day to myself as the kids all had plans of their own. After cleaning up the house and playing taxi driver I decided to make another one of my dreams come true.

I have always dreamed of living in a log cabin or a cottage with an old wooden stove (or a fireplace!) Well the dream about the wooden cabin is fulfilled.:-) It was the part about the old wooden stove that I wanted to fulfil yesterday! Once again, out came my paints and the only available blank wall in our bedroom was soon covered. It was fun!!

I´m sure our heating bill will be half of what it used to be, now that we have got an old wooden stove:-)

Bible verse for May: Philippians 2,3+4 "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others."  (That´s a powerful verse - I still have a long way to go!)
