And then there were 3

Friday aftenoon Sara, Kristian and me made a trip to Jylland together. (Leah was going to stay with her friend Mia and Andrew was staying on his own. It was his first time to sleep alone in the house!! He could hardly wait to get us out!!! haha) So why were we 3 going away? Well, we had been invited to Winnies dads 50th birthday. (Winnie is Saras good friend from go-kart - so we know her parents too.)

Kristian came to get me from work on Friday. It was then home to pack an overnight bag, have a quick shower, change our clothes and then away we went. We had a 3 hour drive in front of us. The time went quickly. Sara slept and Kristian and I chatted away - it was rather cosy.

We arrived around 7.30pm and had a lovely evening together with Winnie, her mum and dad, plus a whole lot of aunts, uncles and cousins!! Around 11pm Kristian and I left. (Sara was staying with Winnie and then going on to visit some other friends on the Saturday.) Kristian and I drove for about an hour and around midnight arrived at his cousins Jacobs house. We were going to spend the night with Jacob and his wife Louisa.

It was so good to see them again! We had such a great Saturday with them. All we seemed to do was eat and talk....but that was ok - thats two of our favourite passtimes!!

Finally late afternoon we left for home. (We really would have loved to have stayed longer - we enjoyed ourselves so much! but we had to pick Leah up again around 7pm.)

Thanks Jacob and Louisa for letting us bunk down for the night in your cosy home. It was so good not to have to make the 3 hour journey home at 11pm!!

Sounds rather hectic in your house. Did Andrew enjoy his first night alone?

Laura, Lorraine & I were talking today & we think we should go back to Speranzas again. Is that ok with you? If so, I can book the table when we know how many are going.

Ps - 18 days to go!!!!

He had a ball!! He was totally lazy - made pizza, watched tv - played computer, played with the cat, messed up and then cleared it all up just before we got home. He loved it!!

We know all this cause as soon as we got home he made us sit down and listen to his weekend, and we got a detailed report about what he had done - which was basically nothing but laze around - it was so funny cause his eyes shone as he told us!! haha (Sara thought it sounded soooo boring - says he should get a life! Andrew on the other hand loves his life!!)

The other day when I was sick, I was lying in bed. When Andrew came home from school, he came into me and lay on the bed a while talking. He said "You know I just love being in this family, I´m so happy that I am me - I love my life" He gave me a hug and away he went. Now that was sooo sweet....made my day!!

Funny how two kids can be so different - Sara the social girl always planning things, having people over or going off to visit people. Andrew the home bird with a few good friends that he hangs out with.

hi Lisa

Speranzas is great. I loved it last time and it´s central for everyone.....oh I cant wait. Well I will try and find out how many peopel are going and then you can book. I think we are on here at the same time writing comments - thats funny

I'm so jealous of Andrew - a weekend of peace and lazing around. Sounds like heaven!!!!

And how sweet is he? Awwwwww. He's so lovely.

lovely photo Laura. Saw you'd been to our bookclub site - will see if we can pick up the book you mentioned. I'm ploughing my way through Half a Yellow Sun at the moment - not really getting into it.

(where have all the blogs gone girls? Everyone's either shut up shop or gone underground!)

Laura, they're the type of comments you only pray your children will say to you. So what are your tips to raising happy, healthy teenagers!!!

Ahh thats lovely! What a thoughtful young man you have raised!

When I was about 16 or 17 we were going on holiday to Edinburgh (nothing new there then, we went every year, sometime twice a year). Anyway I managed to persuade them to let me stay home alone. It was fantastic! I of course, was very sensible! I actually never really went out at all, I went food shopping before hand & had all my dinners planned, and done the housework every day (like it was my house & no one else lived here), and spent the rest of the time reading, painting & watching videos. It was brilliant!

Sounds pretty fab Lisa - I would love one of those holidays now!! I would do exactly the same - plan my meals, shop and then lock myself away and read, paint and see films.....ahhhh sounds like a taste of heaven.

Laura that was such a special thing that Andrew said - bet you'll replay that in your mind for a long time.

Isn't it funny how when you are a teenager and left home alone that you love playing at it being your own house, and yes Lisa doing the shopping etc, and then some day you find out you have to do it every day - and it doesn't quite hold the same appeal! (Along with paying the bills, that doing the ironing once, doesn't get rid of it for all time etc etc!)

lisa said...

Your so right Rhoda, somehow it all lost its sparkle!! I know what you mean about the ironing - no matter how much you do, the very next day theres more!!!! I think it multiplies in the middle of the night!

Ps 17 days to go!!!!!

Girls I never iron!! - fold the clothes as soon as they are finished in the tumble drier, then you dont need to iron them...and those clothes I hang up, well I just fold them and put it in the wardrobe then if they are really bad I iron them when we need them. Hate ironing and life is just too short to spend time doing it!!

Stuart and Pauline said...

Laura, I'm with you, I never iron either. I hang everything up in the wardrobe, then push it all really tight together and that tends to get out the creases. If it hasn't, then the clothes will crease up anyway, once I've warn it. You are right indeed, life is far too short for ironing!!!

Well I'm not going to be able to come to Belfast that weekend. Sorry - I'll be thinking about you all on the Saturday night, I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time - no doubt there will be lots and lots of laughter!
Next time eh?!
Ironing is the one household task that I don't mind - when I actually get round to doing it, which is not very often! So far once this year! (So hey how can imagine how much time I've put into the jobs I don't like!!!!!!!!!)

Mind you I have a friend who irons underwear - now you would never get me to do that!

Rhoda, thats a real shame, it wouldve been great to meet you at last. As you say, maybe next time.

I have never & will never iron underwear, towels, tea towels, socks!!! I know people who do! I do however, iron almost everything else, I put a good film on & iron away, very relaxing. I dont mind it at all.
