Excitement in the Rasmussen household

So our theme week at school is finished. We had such a good week. The weather was fanastic, which was great as a lot of the activities took place outside. We had a little taste of what it was like to live in the middle ages. I think the kids will remember this week for a long time.

Now it´s holiday! We have one week off (well the kids and me do, Kristian has to work) and you know what that means.....NO MORE LUNCH PACKS for 1 whole week!!

There has been some excitement in the household this week. On Thursday Sara´s friend Winnie was coming over to visit her brother and she had a belated birthday present for Sara.....a kitten!! (Winnies cat had kittens in July.) She was arriving late Thursday evening and we were to pick the kitten up in Copenhagen. So it being a last minute thing Leah and I had to drive into the pet shop and pick up a few supplies first. (What have we said yes too???)

At first we thought we were getting a boy (that´s what Sara said!) so we picked out the name Toby. Then yesterday we thought we better have a look and see if it really is a boy. We have now discovered it is a girl.....so we are now trying to find a new name. Any suggestions?? We sort of like Pepsi, or Bella, Sally or Emily. At the minute the favourite is Pepsi.

She is just soooo cute. So friendly, a little naughty, likes a cuddle and she really loves Leah. She is always hopping up to her and following her around. We have all fallen in love with this wee bundle of fur.

Isn't she gorgeous:-) No doubt she will give you lots of fun - in more ways than one!!!!
A couple of weeks ago, David came in and said a wee cat had followed him home. The tamest wee cat you have ever seen! Anyway after 1/2 hour he took the cat out. On Wednesday night we were walking around the area, and saw the wee cat. Now I know why the cat followed David home! David kept encouraging the cat the whole time we were out, clicking his tongue and calling the cat to come!

Yeah - I would probably do the same, encourage the cat and then say that it "followed" me home.

We are having soooo much fun with this cat. We got a cat about 2 years ago from our cousins farm, but it was weird. It hid under the bed the whole time. It was not used to being indoors but this cat has been in a house from she was born and has people constantly around her. She is really cute.

Already had the joy of cleaning up vomit - 2 times!! haha She threw up 6am friday morning when I was on my way out to work..then last night around 7pm.

Went to the vet yesterday as she had worms in her vomit (lovely) so I got a worm course. Gave her the tablet after she threw up last night and she hasnt been sick since. Lets hope it lasts. What a lovely subject eh?!!

Anyway Leah is totally over the moon and spends all her time with her. Still cant find out what we should call her.....Bella maybe. We change it ever hour.........ok got to go.

I'm afraid I don't do animals. They need too much looking after. If Alice ever wants a pet she will have to content herself with friends' pets, because we're never having one. I know it sounds harsh and children promise the earth about looking after the thing, but ultimately it would be me who would be looking after it!!!

I know others get a lot of pleasure out of their pets and I can imagine you will all love it to pieces. Did Winnie check that it was OK to give a kitten?

Yes she did - she got me in one of my weak moments!! and I said no- yes- no - yes (and then Kristian talked me into a definite yes!!) haha

I love animals soooo even though its a bit extra work I dont mind right now....ask me again in a few months! I might have changed my mind.haha

We have had 2 hamsters (first one was a horrible wee thing, it died after 2 years, then we got another - sooo cute, really a wee character! It was Andrews and he was really good at looking after it. I didnt really have to do much, I changed the cage a few times... it died of old age and we loved that wee thing. ) Then we had a rabbit - off course i was also promised by Sara (and leah although she was sooo young) that they would look after it. They did for a while but a rabbit lives a long time and as sara got older she got busier and so it was good old mum who changed its cage and cut it´s nails. The kids just fed it and played with it.

I would love a dog but I wont have one in an apartment. We need a garden so we can open the door and let it out. So roll on the day we get a house with a garden. (if that day ever comes) So right now we are enjoying the kitten. It is just sooooo cute. We are all madly in love with it.
Amazing how you can get so attached to a wee animal. (like Andrews wee hamster - we all loved it cause it had such a personality!)

Ok no more waffling from me. Good night.

She's a lovely wee dote! Hope you have many happy years with her. What about calling her Willow or Kitty or Maddy or Halle? Cant think of anymore right now. I asked Ronnie for his suggestions and you'll never believe what he said - Nellie!!!! And he doesnt know what your mum was called!

We have a golden lab who is a right royal pain in the bum but we all love him (a bit)! lol only joking Jack if your reading this! He's a great dog except he has a flatulence problem at the minute (in other words he's stinking)! So he's been confined to sleeping in the hall until he sorts himself out! We've also got a cat called bob (after bob the builder, connor was about 3 or 4 when we got him). Bob is no trouble at all, he doesnt stay or sleep in the house, he will come in the back door and walk straight through to the front door and go out again! Ronnie seems to think he must have some kind of paralell universe between the front and back of the house!!

Lisa for your Jack, give him charcoal - the black biscuits.

Willow for a cat - that's my neice's name!!!!!!!

I can't wait till we get another dog - that's really the only pet I would want. David keeps angling for a cat, and I keep saying "Well only if it can live with a dog!"

But I must admit kittens can look really cute.

well i would love a dog but wont get one until we have a garden, so a cat is the next best thing....I think - I hope. Let us see how it goes.....

Thanks for the name suggestions. I love Willow - leah loves Maddy

so we are still discussing it.

Have to say I'm with Pauline on this one! Dogs, I can handle, but won't ever own one again unless they come fitted with a self changing nappy and an anti-bark mechanism for indoors - or in the car. Hamsters... been there done that - sort of obligatory when you teach primary school.

Knew a family once who had a cat called Cfor which I thought was very funny. (C for cat.... duh.)

Could then call the dog Dfor (or Dee4?) when the garden arrives.

Enjoy it, little anythings are always score high on the Oooo ahhh factor!

Just a wee observation . . . it's Sara's cat - should she not be the one choosing the name:-)!!!!!!!!!!!

Laura said...

yes - but she is wanting all to be in on it....she likes pepsi...and she loved Toby. We all loved Toby so we were really disappointed to find out that it was girl.

Leah and I like Bella at the moment....Sara wont be home until Wednesday, she is at a summerhouse with her friends. Good job she has a good wee sister who is looking after the cat for her until she comes home.
