Granny Rasmussen and her sister Dorthe were kept busy serving food to all the guests. They had an open house from 8am until 3pm. Many visitors came and went. After that it was all the family that gathered together for some hot soup.
We had such a great time chatting away. I must admit that we spent some of the time re-living the concert on Saturday. Hanna and Flemming had got a DVD that someone had recorded so we just had to check out a few of the songs again.
Happy Birthday Farfar!! Hope that you have had a wonderful day. We really enjoyed the afternoon and evening together with you!!
Laura, me again, realising you are half the woman of your father-in-law!!!!! Bet when he was 40 he never imagined he would have a crazy Irish daughter-in-law:-)
That is true lisa - we all really do enjoy each others company. Its such a blessing to be in such a big family where everyone gets on with each other....we always have a great time together. Now the next big family event is Kristians mum and days Golden wedding anniversary in June. Imagine being married for 50years!!!!! WILD
My mum and dad would have been married 53 years this July, isnt it really a lifetime? Sadly dad died 7 weeks before their 50th, and we had had a big party planned so instead we rented a gorgeous house in Donegal and myself, Ronnie and Connor, Jane, her husband and kids and Donna, my cousin Ivan and his wife and one of my close friends all went there for a week instead. The weather had been awful beforehand but the week we were there was beautiful summer weather the whole time. We were able to have a barbeque on the beach, and lots of lovely walks and of course lots of shopping in the nearest large town! It turned out to be a really good holiday and the weather helped make it just that little bit easier for mum as we were able to do loads to keep her occupied. Its funny we never thought we would end up enjoying ourselves at a really difficult time but when you have lots of family around you it makes a world of difference! So cherish that great big loving Danish family you have and enjoy every minute together - though it looks like you all do that anyway!
Yes you are so right it's brilliant to be a part of a big close family, that actually enjoys being together! I bet it made it lot easier to settle in Denmark, marrying into such a fun and loving family:-) It looks a lot like David's family, I think it makes a difference when you live close to each other, or at least close enough to meet up.
It's great Lisa that you were all able to go away, and actually make good memories from a painful time, I'm sure that was really good to do at the time, even it was very difficult.
50 years sounds like such a long time, but I bet K's parents think its passed in a blink, and probably even wonder how they ended up with grandchildren already - never mind children!
My name is Laura and I come from Belfast, Northern Ireland. I am married to Kristian who is Danish, so for the past 25 years I have lived in Denmark. We live in a small town north of Copenhagen. We have 3 kids, Sara (24 years), Andrew (22 years) and Leah(18 years).
Kristian and I are both Christians. It´s so great to be in a relationship with God and know He is there helping us and loving us no matter what life may throw our way. Life has meaning and purpose.
I started this blog mainly as a diary so I could look back and see what we had done as a family over the years. Then I realised it was a great way for my family and friends in Ireland to follow our life here in Denmark. It´s not the most exciting blog - it´s just life - our life :-)

What a fit, healthy looking 80 year old! Happy Birthday from me too! Wonder does Granda Rasmussan remember me?????? Maybe he would rather forget!

Loved all the concert stuff - Leah is just brilliant. A Hannah Montana in the making I think!
You have a great close-knit family, you all love each others company & have loads in common, and Granda looks great for 80!
