Bowling, golf and tennis - all in the one night!

Tonight started with a visit to see some art. My colleague Dorthe had two of her paintings hanging in an exhibition, so me and my colleagues from work went to see the exhibition. When finished there we headed home to us to eat and have some fun.

We ordered some Thai food - delicious!! I had made a pavalova and cheese cake for dessert, (which once again tasted soooo good. I am getting rather good at this!! Unbelieveable!! haha)

Then it was time to play! We had invited some of our "old" colleagues along so Anne and Thomas were there. Anne had taken her Wii machine along. We re-arranged some of the furniture and then we played bowling, golf, and tennis. Great fun.

When the others went home, Thomas and Anne stayed a little longer. Thomas and Kristian had a great time trying to beat each other in bowling. Both really WANTED to win!

Anne and I had a tennis match, she won! I think I might want to get one of these Wii things! We had so much fun with it.

Now all thats left to do is a PILE of dishes - YUK, maybe I should get my self a new dishwasher before I get myself a Wii!

Well now Laura that depends on your priorities - whether you go for a Wii or a dishwasher:-)

Well done on the cheesecake & pavlova - you'll be doing catering next!!!!

So was Anne trying to 'massage' your head?

Ok it's nearly lunch time, and I haven't had breakfast yet!!!!

Go for the wii!!! Ive made your cheesecake again today, its in the fridge setting - cant wait! I really really love it!

I think I have decided to go for a dishwasher first!! thats after standing washing up all the dishes from last night - dinner and dessert and coffee cups etc!! PHEW!!

Isnt the cheesecake just to die for. I love it too, but it has just too many bad things in it!!! and I cant stop eating it when I start, so I only make it now when we are having guests.

There was no cheesecake left and only 1 piece of pavalova and what did I do this morning when I woke...ate the pavalova for breakfast at like 9.30am!! Kristian was disgusted with me!! haha (i just think he wanted to eat it but I got there first!!haha)

Well hope you all have a wonderful Saturday whatever you are up to.

I would definitely go for the dishwasher!!! I hate standing washing dishes, after you've had friends round. You can always keep inviting Anne round for a wii, but not to come and wash your dishes:-)

Laura said...

You are soooo right Rhoda!! A dishwasher it is!!

The cheesecake was to die for!!! I took it down to mums & everyone wolfed it down! So compliments to you for your lovely recipe!

So a dishwasher it is then? Ok, thats the sensible option - I wouldve went for the wii but then Im not always sensible!!!

Laura, well done for making your own cheesecake and pavlova. I would defo go for the dishwasher. I nagged Stuart for ages to get one, because we host our home group Bible study and we always have cake and tea/coffee afterwards. Rather than washing them up at 11pm when they've all gone, we just bung them in the dishwasher. So much easier. You can always get a Wii for Christmas between you. Stuart and I are thinking about getting one for Christmas between us.

well maybe if I hadnt have stood and washed like every plate and glass we had the house, I might have chosen the Wii too - but after all that washing up I wised up and decided to be sensible....so its the dishwasher first, maybe we´ll get a wii this christmas:-)

Rhoda said...

That depends Lisa on how you define sensible! Here's the logic:
If Laura gets the dishwasher, then when her friends are round with the wii, she can spend the whole night enjoying the fun, without thinking "Oh bummer I still have all the dishes to wash" She doesn't even have to think about dishes!!!! She can just have fun fun fun.
On the other hand if she gets the wii first, probably they will all play it constantly for a few weeks, and then not so much, and then only when friends come round, and then she'll be thinking "Oh bummer I have the dishes to wash"!!!! But to get the dishwasher first is win win win!
It all makes perfect sense to me!
Now the reason I probably feel like this is I waited 15 years to get my own dishwasher! And I love it!!!

Pauline since you got your dishwasher for the house group, do you only use it for that:-)!!! If you were an MP could you legitimately claim it on your expenses:-)!!!!!

Well I think thats that decision made - a dishwasher it is. We have had the last one for almost 13 years. It was actually fun washing up at the beginning of last month when it broke...now its just a pain!

Rhoda, the HG was just a persuasive weapon in my armoury of arguments. It would save time, they're better for the environment (we only use it every other day), we have people round a lot for meals and it's a pain to wash up afterwards, etc, etc...

By the by, no-one tell Stuart we're getting a joint Wii for Christmas. He doesn't know yet. Tee hee!!!!

lisa said...

Well he does know now if he reads the blog!!!!!!

Stuart and Pauline said...

Ah ha, you see he doesn't. Cunning, eh?!!!

Rhoda said...

Pauline you're hilarious! Way back on comment 7 you said:
"Stuart and I are thinking about getting one for Christmas between us."

And now we know the truth! Stuart is not thinking about it at all, just you:-)

But it's ok your secret is safe here on the blog . . . maybe!

You have 7 & 1/2 months to keep on sowing the seeds so that by the time Christmas comes, Stuart will think it was his idea all along!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lorraine said...

Very funny Pauline, I do that too. I say to Brian out of the blue something like 'You know, I think you're right. We should get a Wii for Christmas. I didn't think so at the time, but I'm coming round to the idea' and by the time he's argued that he never said anything the idea is there and he suggests it later.

Laura said...

hahaha thats a good idea girls. Now why hadnt I thought of that. Must try that out on Kristian!! Thanks for the tip!! Love the way you put it Lorraine "You know Kristian that is actually a good idea you had about us getting a Wii...." haha love it!!

Stuart and Pauline said...

Poor wee things, they have no idea how we manipulate them with our wily ways.

Good idea Lorraine, will have to try that one on Stuart.

Charlene said...

Dishwasher for definite! (I don't have one - it's not very eco friendly!)

Rhoda said...

Ah Charlene, that's were you're wrong! New dishwashers are more eco friendly than washing by hand & rinsing . . . at least according to a report I heard, and I'm sticking to it!!!!

Stuart and Pauline said...

It's not even newer dishwashers. Apparently the amount of water you use to fill a bowl and wash your dishes every day is a lot more than running a dishwasher. Plus we run ours every other day. I've heard this on quite a few consumer type programmes.

I might have misunderstood your comment though. Not sure if you were saying dishwashers aren't eco friendly, or you're not eco friendly for doing the dishes by hand.

lisa said...

I think Im gonna sit this one out girls!!!!

Lorraine said...

I love my dishwasher! Now I just need someone to invent one with big long arms to stack itself and put the clean dishes away!!

Rhoda said...

That's a brilliant idea Lorraine - if you manage to find out where to get one, please let me know. Also if you can find out where to get something that puts the shopping away that too would be brilliant!

lisa said...

Girls do you not know that 'hands that do dishes are as soft as your face - with mild green Fairy liquid'!!!

Rhoda said...

Or you could just use hand cream Lisa!

Laura said...

Hey Lorraine they have a new thing out that stacks the dirty dishes and puts away the clean - its called KIDS!!! hahaha

Thats our kids duties - to either empty the clean dishwasher or put in the dirty stuff...works great.

I sure do miss my dishwasher...I think also a dishwasher uses less water than washing up yourself. The amount of water we use to wash the dishes in these days is wild - I am dreading our water bill!!

Stuart and Pauline said...

Laura, did I just not say that.

At what age do you think they can help with the dishwasher. I think 2 is a bit young, we might lose more than we wash. Very eco-friendly, we'll have no dishes to wash, however nothing to eat our food off. Ahhh, the world is full of these week dilemmas.

Rhoda said...

"Week" dilemmas Pauline? What are they? Dilemmas you have every week? Dilemmas you have every day of every week?

I think 2 is the perfect age to start training! What about helping with the cutlery - well at least the spoons, and hey she would think it was a game - poor child!

So Laura, if it's the kids' duties to load or empty the dishwasher how come that didn't transfer to doing the dishes?????

Laura said...

bad training on my part!n haha

Well actually they help dry and Sara washed the dishes for me today, so when I came home from work the breakfast and lunch dishes were all gone - wonderful...I wonder what she´s after???!!!

lisa said...

What I find is if youve eaten a big meal, getting up right away and washing, drying and putting away the dishes helps work off some of the calories, and you dont feel all full-up and sleepy! I know I feel much better for it!
